Thanks in part to the myriad fraud scandals plaguing state government in Minnesota, Gov. Tim Walz (D) is seeing his hopes and dreams of a 2028 presidential primary campaign evaporate faster than an ice cube sitting on a car hood in the summer heat.
So what's a desperate, failed vice presidential candidate like Walz to do? Play the victim, that's what.
Walz's latest attempt at distracting people from the scandals happened in the aftermath of President Trump referring to him as "retarded" in a Thanksgiving post where the POTUS referenced Somali gangs. "The seriously retarded Governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz, does nothing, either through fear, incompetence, or both," Trump wrote.

Naturally, the use of that term seemingly prompted more outrage from the Usual Suspects than the deeply troubling fraud scandals themselves, something Walz tried to capitalize on during public comments made Thursday:
This creates danger. And I'll tell you what, in my time on this, I’d never seen this before. People driving by my house and using the R-word in front of people. This is shameful. And I have yet to see an elected official, a Republican elected official, say, "You're right. That's shameful. He should not say it."
So, look, I’m worried. We know how these things go. They start with taunts, they turn to violence. So, deeply concerned.

You know, Walz's phony outrage might come across as more sincere had he not spent the past year or so calling Trump a fascist dictator and comparing him and federal immigration enforcement officers to the Gestapo.
Further, let's not forget that back in August, when the fake Lincoln Project-instigated rumor about Trump being dead circulated on social media, Walz made it clear he was disappointed that it wasn't true in disturbing remarks given in front of supporters:
"Look I get it, you get up in the morning and you doom scroll through things, although I will say this, the last few days you woke up thinking there might be news," Walz said at a Labor Day picnic in Duluth on Monday, eliciting a laugh from the crowd in a reference to recent online conspiracy theories about Trump’s health with some claiming that he had died.
"Just saying, just saying, there will be news sometime, just so you know, there will be news."

Yeah. Considering the two assassination attempts on Trump in 2024 - with one of them nearly succeeding, the assassination of Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk in September 2025, and the violent attacks against Tesla dealerships and ICE, I'd say the right should take lectures on a new tone and civility from the likes of Tim Walz on like the 12th of Never.
