Though our intelligence gets insulted on a daily basis by the Biden administration, when it's related to the border crisis it's a little extra insulting considering how often it happens.
The latest instance came Monday during the White House press briefing when press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was asked if Joe Biden planned on visiting the southern border before the presidential election.

Her response was to suggest Biden had been there "recently," which was not true. When the unnamed, flummoxed reporter asked if it was this January, Jean-Pierre corrected herself and noted it was from January 2023.

As Fox News national correspondent Bill Melugin reminded people, though, Biden's visit - his first ever in his decades of working in government - was nothing more than a photo op:
"The President had a highly controlled visit to El Paso after the streets had been cleared out of migrants, he went to a migrant center that somehow didn’t have a single migrant in it, & he visited a port of entry instead of the river where the illegal crossings take place. He didn’t even visit a Border Patrol station & he held no public remarks & took no questions."
As RedState reported, El Paso had indeed been sanitized and cleared of all traces of illegal immigrants ahead of his visit, a visit that came about after two years of shaming by Republicans who kept telling him that in order to get a good grasp on the dire nature of the situation that Biden had created he needed to visit and see things firsthand.
Instead, his trip amounted to what some suggested was a "dog and pony show," with Biden shaking hands with border officials and walking down the street talking to them as photographers snapped pictures and video but not rolling up his sleeves and visiting overcrowded facilities to see the deplorable results of his border policies.
As we noted before, Biden's brief El Paso stop brought back embarrassing memories of when Vice President Kamala Harris in her capacity as Biden’s “border czar” was shamed by her critics (including former President Donald Trump) into taking a so-called “border visit” in June 2021.
But as RedState noted at the time, Harris did not visit the actual physical border there nor other hot spots like the Rio Grande Valley. Instead, she chose to conduct her photo ops at an El Paso border patrol station miles away and at the El Paso airport.
This issue, like the economy and inflation, is a top issue on the minds of voters, and Joe Biden's polling on the illegal immigration issue routinely shows dismal numbers, with the average approval rating being 31.5 percent as of this writing.
And the more the Biden White House insults the intelligence of the American people on the issue, the worse his numbers are going to get. Biden is likely relying heavily on the Hispanic vote to rescue him on this at the ballot box, but they, too, are unhappy with what he's done.
No amount of desperate spin from KJP, Mayorkas, nor Biden himself is going to change the situation on the ground, and if Biden does lose in November he can point to this issue as a big factor as to why.
