Sen. John Kennedy Nails Why Most Americans Wouldn’t Buy Joe Biden Trying to Sell Mask Mandates

As RedState previously reported, Joe Biden blew up the White House's mask narrative Wednesday in remarks given in the East Room about how he knew he should be wearing a mask in front of the audience considering First Lady Jill Biden's COVID-19 diagnosis but wasn't.

"Let me explain to the press: I’ve been tested again today," Biden stated, mask in hand. "I’m clear across the board, but they keep telling me, because this has to be 10 days or something, I got to keep wearing it. But don’t tell them I didn’t have it on when I walked in."

And he didn't wear it during the 10-minute speech he gave, either.

It was the second time in two days that Biden had gone against CDC guidelines on what you should do when you've been exposed to someone who has the COVID-19 virus, which needless to say is an interesting turn of events considering how Biden has in the past leaned on the "patriotism" angle when trying to sell the American people on wearing masks (and getting vaccinated).

Biden's remarks also came at a time when there is a renewed focus on mask mandates, considering some schools and school systems are already implementing them.

Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) appeared on Fox News recently and was asked if he found the return of mask mandates concerning.

Kennedy's response was to get to the heart of the matter on the issue of credibility (or lack thereof) when it comes to the CDC, Dr. Fauci, and Joe Biden himself:

"The CDC and the leadership at that time did more to undermine the institution of public health in America than anything I can think of in the last 100 years. I mean nobody believes what the CDC says anymore, and that's really a shame.
When Dr. Fauci said there's no way that the virus could have come out (of a) Wuhan lab, and it was discovered that he had actually funded gain-of-control research there and tried to cover it up, that just destroyed their credibility. And nobody believes them anymore, and those who do believe them sort of go, 'Well, you know, I guess they're right.' They're just not convinced.
My feeling about the mask is that if you want to wear a mask, wear it. If you don't want to wear a mask, don't wear it. But if President Biden tries to mandate mask-wearings, I think he needs to call a press conference, throw away the teleprompter, come armed with the science, and explain to the American people.
But I don't think they'll believe it. Because the polls tell me most Americans right now don't trust President Biden to make Hamburger Helper. And I wish I didn't have to say that but he's brought this on himself."

As I wrote Wednesday, if the mandates start piling up again and they receive Biden's blessing - as you know they will - my prediction is that they will backfire on him in 2024 because at this point people have had a chance to digest and review how the federal government responded to the COVID outbreak and to compare how blue state governors handled it versus how red state governors handled it.

In my opinion, I think the fact that red states like Florida saw a surge in new residents from blue states like New York at the height of the pandemic tells the ultimate story of what people thought about the dictatorial tendencies of the Gavin Newsoms and Andrew Cuomos of America. If Joe Biden decides to pursue a similar route in response to the reported uptick in cases, he might just find that the fleeing being done will be voters fleeing the Democratic party - for good.
