As political junkies, we’ve all seen our fair share of instances where climate change alarmists went way over the top in trying to get their (disputed) points of view across, like when they’ve deliberately sat in front of tanker trucks (sometimes with young children next to them), glued themselves to the street, or have intentionally blocked major roadways despite pleas from frustrated and irate people on their way to work or to job interviews or the hospital with a sick child to get the heck out of the way.

But sometimes it’s what these fanatics say more than what they do that lands them in hot water, which brings me to the story of Montana Democrat Tom Winter.

According to Ballotpedia, Winter (not to be confused with the NBC News reporter with the same name) was a one-term state lawmaker from 2019 to 2021 before turning his attention to a run for Congress. In that, Winter failed big, coming in third place in the June 2022 Democratic primary, losing to Monica Tranel, who went on to lose to Republican nominee Ryan Zinke – a former interior secretary under Trump – in the general election.

As to the type of politico Winter is, well, let’s let him explain:

We lost. And we fought for what’s right while outspent 18 to 1 & never compromised our MT values:

– universal healthcare
– assault weapons ban
– ending oil leases
– abortion rights for *all*

Winter, as it turns out, also demonstrated who he really is courtesy of a tweet he posted Monday night where he wished injury and possible death “to whoever just flew their private jet from Telluride to Missoula during the hottest week in Earth’s recorded history.”

“I hope you crash before landing,” he also wrote:

A warm 97° welcome to whoever just flew their private jet from Telluride to Missoula during the hottest week in Earth’s recorded history.

As of this writing, despite the fact that the tweet violates Twitter’s rules on wishing violence on another person, the tweet is still up – but Winter is getting pilloried in the meantime.

RedState’s Jim Thompson responded accordingly, predicting Winter’s tweet would be allowed to stand “because [he has] ‘he/him’ in his bio.”

Another Twitter user noted that “This is a perfect example of how leftism rots your brain. So easily programmed and led by lies and misinformation. Once it takes root, it metastasizes and effects different parts of the brain. In this case, erasing empathy and critical thinking.”

Indeed. When you’ve sunk so low as to actually root for your political opposition to die over disputes over policy, you know you’ve lost the argument – and then some.
