As we previously reported, Rep.-elect George Santos (R-N.Y.) confessed this week to lying about and embellishing significant portions of his life story during the course of his Congressional campaign.
So far, Santos’ rehabilitation tour, which started with a disastrous interview he did with former Democratic Congresswoman and 2020 presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard, is not going so well.
Despite all that, he’s refused to resign in the face of growing calls to do so and instead is pushing on like nothing’s happened. Case in point, the below tweet he posted to his account Wednesday showing him touring the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, which presumably is in his Congressional district:
It was an honor to tour the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point today. In Congress, I look forward to working alongside them to fully utilize this amazing resource we have in our own backyard in #NY03. pic.twitter.com/v91aVVViVY

That Santos is acting more like a typical freshman Congressman-to-be instead of someone who just got caught grossly misrepresenting himself to his constituents apparently fauxfended out-going Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.), who responded to the tweet by calling on Santos to “resign.”
No doubt with the understanding in mind that Santos resigning would at least, in the short term, further narrow the already-slim majority the GOP has to work with in the next Congress, Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.) piggybacked onto Kinzinger’s tweet and demanded the same of Santos:

Firstly, it doesn’t take one ounce of bravery to call on Santos to resign. From what I understand, he is pretty much universally disliked by both sides, and considering what he’s admitted to doing, I’m honestly surprised at this point that more aren’t lining up to call on him to do the same thing. Further, as RedState senior editor Joe Cunningham observed, there are far more concerning things to question about Santos’ background than the lies he’s admitted telling.
That being said, where were Kinzinger and Lieu on Joe Biden making a career about telling false stories about who he is and his family accomplishments? As I noted in a prior post, before there was George Santos there was Joe Biden, and in my opinion, Santos is not even in the same league as Biden when it comes to telling tall tales about his life story.
My RS colleague Mike Miller broke it down here:
Let’s do a quick refresh, shall we? Here’s a summary of Joe’s lies, as provided by NewsBusters:
- Made multiple lies about his academic background. Among them was his claim to have graduated in the top half of his law school class. He graduated 76th out of 85.
- Fabricated his family background, plagiarizing a story from Brit Neil Kinnock’s speech about his family bio.
- Lied about his wife and daughter being killed by a drunk driver.
- Lied about quitting the Delaware football team in order to visit his girlfriend. In fact, he quit because of poor grades.
- Lied in saying, “I got started out of an HBCU, Delaware State.” He never attended Delaware State or any historically black college or university.
- Lied about his involvement in the civil rights movement.
- Lied about being arrested in South Africa while trying to visit Nelson Mandela in prison.
And of course, “The Big Guy” ridiculously continues to lie about his involvement with — or even knowledge of — his crackhead son Hunter’s shady business dealings. Moreover, multiple reports allege that the Biden Family Business, headed by Joe, makes Godfather Don Corleone look like a piker. So again, why hasn’t the door hit this guy in the behind on the way out? Yep, Democrat hypocrisy.
Yep, no surprise here that Lieu and other Democrats, and Kinzinger and his “principled” ilk, have opportunistically looked the other way as a serial liar and plagiarist has occupied the White House–both for the two years he’s been president as well as the five decades he’s been in Washington, D.C.
Let’s also not forget that Biden is not the only high-profile Democrat to get caught making it up, as he goes along about key portions of his background:
I’m sure the congressman will therefore also agree that @SenBlumenthal and @SenWarren should resign for lying about their backgrounds, as should @potus for falsely accusing the other driver in the accident that killed his first wife and daughter. https://t.co/imCYgylRxw

Move along, nothing to see. Just Democrats doing Democrat things and getting away with it, as usual.
