Biden and Psaki Are Asked About Texas Lifting Mask Mandate, They Bomb Their Answers Big Time (Watch)

We reported yesterday on how both Texas and Mississippi made big announcements Tuesday regarding the lifting of certain COVID-related mandates.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves, both Republicans, lifted their mask mandates and set the stage for businesses in their respective states to be able to be fully open and operational again.

“Today, I’m opening a new executive order that rescinds most of the earlier executive orders. Effective next Wednesday, all businesses of any type are allowed to open 100%. That includes any entity in Texas. Also, I am ending the statewide mask mandate,” Abbott said.

“Starting tomorrow, we are lifting all of our county mask mandates and businesses will be able to operate at full capacity without any state-imposed rules. Our hospitalizations and case numbers have plummeted, and the vaccine is being rapidly distributed. It is time!” Reeves tweeted.

Naturally, the Usual Suspects on the left erupted in outrage, with the predictable “Grandma killer!” accusations being thrown around like trash items at a left-wing “peaceful protest.”

Earlier today, White House press secretary Jen Psaki was asked during the daily press briefing about both states lifting their mask mandates. Her predictable response was to proclaim that that the “entire country has paid the price for political leaders who ignored the science.” Watch:

President Biden was asked a similar question a short time later, and in addition to calling lifting mask mandates “Neanderthal thinking”, his answer, too, was to demand the governors “follow the science.” Watch:

Follow the science? Really? Okay, let’s talk about following the science. Starting here:

And about those states that have strict mask mandates in place:

Also, is it “following the science” to sign an executive order mandating mask-wearing on federal property your first day in office and then promptly violate it just a few hours later? Is it “following the science” to increase COVID restrictions in your state while at the same time making plans to dine out with your wife and friends at a fancy restaurant like the French Laundry? Is it “following the science” to walk around a shuttered California hair salon maskless while getting a haircut and highlights? Is it “following the science” to bow to teachers’ unions in the fight over school reopenings when even some pro-lockdown media outlets are acknowledging that “there’s mounting evidence that Covid transmission in schools is low, even when there’s a high rate of infection in the community”?

Why is it only one side that is supposed to “follow the science” here?

Ya know, it’s almost as though Democrats have one standard for themselves and another for everyone else:

And another big threat to trusting the science is hearing “leaders” who don’t seem to know what “the science” actually is telling you to “follow” it anyway, which is a big reason why so many people are simply tuning out the “experts” at this point and making their own decisions instead.

Being told New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) is a magnificent hero while Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) is a bad guy on managing the pandemic, and then finding out the numbers show just the opposite also goes a long way to destroying that trust. People are just fed up at this stage, and who can blame them?
