Around 5:45 today as President Trump was beginning a press briefing, someone whispered something in his ear and Trump proceeded to exit the briefing room right after.

The video below shows Trump being briefed about something, then he leaves:

Very soon after, there were reports of shots fired:

It has not been revealed at this time who the person shot is but these two unverified videos are circulating on Twitter, with some claiming the person on the ground is the person who was shot by the Secret Service:

This video is from CBS News correspondent Skyler Henry:

From Daily Caller chief video director Richie McGinniss:

Trump returned a short time later and talked briefly to the reporters assembled in the briefing room about what happened, telling them more details would be coming later about the incident:

Describing what he knew about the situation, the president said it “seems” a person was shot by Secret Service and had been taken to the hospital.

Several minutes after initially taking the podium, someone – who appeared to be a Secret Service agent – told the president something before Trump stopped and walked out of the room.

“Excuse me?” the president said to the agent before exiting.

After returning to the podium, Trump said a shooting took place outside the premises of the White Houe near the fence. He said more information would be released later.

The president then moved on to discussing other issues, including the stock market and the coronavirus crisis.

Trump was asked if he was “rattled” by what happened. Here was his answer:

Former Secret Service agent Dan Bongino said he’d never seen anything like this:

As Trump said, more details will be coming later from the Secret Service. In the meantime, we’ve just found out what it takes for CNN to cover a Trump briefing:

They’re reporting a “senior administration official” as saying an “active shooter” was taken into custody.

Stay tuned.
