Any day that Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) gets exposed as the obnoxious fool that he is is a good day.
Wednesday was one of those days.
The failed 2020 presidential candidate took aim last night at former acting DNI Richard Grenell, accusing him of being a Nazi sympathizer. It all started after Grenell correctly pointed out to celebrity Chrissy Teigen that she was complaining about a toxic cancel culture environment she helped create:
Not good. But you helped create this terrible cancel culture.
You’ve become what you say you hate. https://t.co/QqmuLqcjjw
— Richard Grenell (@RichardGrenell) July 22, 2020
This led to a ridiculous claim from Swalwell that Grenell was “associating with QAnon” by reminding Teigen that she has played a role in fostering cancel culture. He also threw in the Nazi sympathizer accusation. Swalwell later deleted the tweet but it was grabbed by another Twitter user:
All you have to do is look for it🙄 pic.twitter.com/fxgoi7EuLL

Grenell’s response was to accuse Swalwell of being a homophobe because of how often he attacks gay Republicans and also to turn a common liberal tactic around on one of their own. Swalwell, in turn, used the fact that Grenell didn’t deny his claims as “proof” of some sort that they were true:
In case it’s not clear: @RichardGrenell hung out with Nazis. In Germany. On Taxpayer’s dime. As your ambassador. pic.twitter.com/KAoayjQg5j

It was at this point that both Grenell and friend/political commentator Dave Rubin had had enough:
You have a thing for pushing hoaxes.
First Russians, now Nazis. This is a member of the German Bundestag where it’s illegal to be a Nazi.
This is from America’s 4th of July Party where all Bundestag members were invited. https://t.co/P98K28Yxj0— Richard Grenell (@RichardGrenell) July 23, 2020
You are an absolute dirtbag @RepSwalwell.
— Dave Rubin (@RubinReport) July 23, 2020
Because Swalwell is a moron, he kept at it, suggesting that a lack of denial was confirmation of what he was alleging about Grenell:
But he’s still a Nazi supporter? Cause you didn’t deny he was. Thanks.
— Rep. Eric Swalwell (@RepSwalwell) July 23, 2020
Rubin finished him with his next two tweets:
He isn’t a Nazi supporter you dick.
Ric has spent his public life defending minorities, gays and opposed people all over the world. All you’ve done is fart on cable TV.
— Dave Rubin (@RubinReport) July 23, 2020
I really, really try to stay out of Twitter spats, but when a former presidential candidate (who polled at 0% the whole time) calls my friend @RichardGrenell a Nazi supporter, I do what I gotta do. https://t.co/oieToVNZEs
— Dave Rubin (@RubinReport) July 23, 2020
Swalwell ran away like the coward that he is after Rubin’s response. But that didn’t stop Rubin from reminding his followers all over again this morning about just how much of a jackass the Congressman is:
Good morning @RepSwalwell! https://t.co/VpGhy6dJKY
— Dave Rubin (@RubinReport) July 23, 2020
The supposed “Nazi” in the picture with Grenell also weighed in:
Obviously, for @RepSwalwell everybody can be a "Nazi" – even a political refugee from communist Czechoslovakia, who becam asylum in Germany and was later elected by the people of Germany into the Parliament.
Gosh, does he know what Nazi is? https://t.co/94WtvnjO7t

A couple more things I’d like to point out about Swalwell: In the middle of the argument and after Grenell debunked his claims about being a Nazi sympathizer, Swalwell tried to pull in anti-Semitic “journalist” Mehdi Hasan (Reps. Tlaib and Omar are big fans of his work) to back him up, which explains quite a bit about Swalwell:
Are you for real? @RichardGrenell, you, our Ambassador to Germany, palled around with a pro-Nazi member. @mehdirhasan, is this dude gaslighting us? https://t.co/MgffSkvBAQ
— Rep. Eric Swalwell (@RepSwalwell) July 23, 2020
As of this writing, Hasan hasn’t responded even though he’s posted other tweets over the last several hours.
Also – Swalwell never denied it last month when he was accused of being an Antifa ally after posting a tweet supportive of their efforts, so by his own standards I guess that makes the accusation true.
Their rules. Their freakin’ rules.
