Food Fight! Hogg on the Hot Seat As DNC Makes Big Move to Jettison Him As Vice Chair

David Hogg, who emerged as a gun control advocate and political activist after he survived the horrible 2018 Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Florida, has shaken up the Democrat party and caused intense navel-gazing and infighting among the ranks. You see, after the 25-year-old was voted in as vice chair of the Democratic National Committee, he continued to agitate and raise money for party candidates who were challenging Dem incumbents—in effect, going directly against the DNC’s core mission.

Now some want him gone, and on Monday night, they took action:

The credentials committee of the Democratic National Committee voted on Monday to void the results of the internal party vote that made David Hogg a party vice chair, ruling that the election had not followed proper parliamentary procedures.
The decision — which came after roughly three hours of internal debate and one tie vote — will put the issue before the full body of the Democratic National Committee. It must decide whether to force Mr. Hogg and a second vice chair, Malcolm Kenyatta, to run again in another election later this year.

Hogg isn’t taking it well [emphasis mine]:

“While this vote was based on how the DNC conducted its officers’ elections, which I had nothing to do with, it is also impossible to ignore the broader context of my work to reform the party which loomed large over this vote,” Hogg said in a statement after the committee’s recommendation. “I ran to be DNC Vice Chair to help make the Democratic Party better, not to defend an indefensible status quo that has caused voters in almost every demographic group to move away from us. [Yup!] The DNC has pledged to remove me, and this vote has provided an avenue to fast-track that effort.”

There are few things more satisfying than watching Democrats go at each other. Usually, it can be fairly termed as a “Battle of the Wrong Against the Even More Wrong.” Hogg was stunningly arrogant to think he could waltz into the power structure of the DNC and immediately start fighting against incumbent Democrats. That being said, it’s also enlightening to watch the entrenched interests get their knickers in a twist over their orthodoxy being challenged.

In one area, though, Hogg is absolutely right: “voters in almost every demographic group have moved away” from their extremist progressive ideology.

Unfortunately, neither he nor the entrenched power elite that he’s upsetting have any effective idea of how to turn that around—but that’s their problem.

To illustrate how dishonest they are, Christine Pelosi, a member of the credentials committee and daughter of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), laughably tried to play off the drama as simply a procedural thing that was 100 percent, oh-so-not-possibly retribution against Hogg:

First, I want to say clearly and explicitly that this decision has nothing to do with the service of any DNC officer, especially [Hogg] or [Kenyatta]. This is about a violation of parliamentary procedure that was raised in a challenge filed back in February by another candidate for Vice Chair.

Right, we believe you, Christine. Try not to laugh:
