As I’ve said before, it was not a good look for Democrats like Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan, Washington Gov. Jay Inslee and many MSM reporters to continue to state that Seattle’s CHAZ/CHOP was a “peaceful” place with a “block party atmosphere.” Some in the media likened it to a “street festival“, while Durkan at one point predicted the occupied zone could very well turn into a “summer of love.”
Thanks to local reporters on the ground and new media journalists like Townhall.com’s Julio Rosas, all of who have quite literally risked their lives to bring readers and viewers reports and videos of what has really taken place behind the walls erected by CHOP occupiers, we know the real story.
Local businesses in the area have been robbed – and their calls to 911 were ignored. Guns were distributed to vigilante “warlords” out of the trunks of cars. Journalists were attacked in broad daylight. WrongThinkers were mobbed and kicked off the island.
Seattle police chief Carmen Best bluntly told the local media two weeks ago that “calls for service have more than tripled. These are responses to emergency calls — rapes, robberies, and all sorts of violent acts that have been occurring in the area that we’re not able to get to.”
There were several instances of shots being fired over the weekend inside the CHOP. One person was killed.
In the aftermath, Mayor Durkan announced that the camp would have to come down so the police could have their East precinct back and so uptown business could get back to normal.
Because we know the mainstream media is going to conveniently memory-hole the CHOP in the coming weeks and either pretend it never existed or continue to lie to people about it, Newsbusters put together a great compare and contrast compilation of the national medias’s coverage to how things actually were.
Watch the video below:
Don’t let the media gaslight you. This thing was never a “summer of love.”
