If there’s one thing we can thank Jennifer Rubin for in recent weeks, it’s for providing us with some unintentionally delusional and distracting hot takes when we most need them.

That’s exactly what the Washington Post’s “conservative” columnist did on Tuesday when she wrote a piece about how “Trump’s damage is done.” In the original piece, she took her usual swipes at Sen. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) for allegedly “fail[ing] to take an immediate vote on the House’s relief package last week”, calling it “emblematic of the sloth and irresponsibility of Sen. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.”

She then went on to say that unless McConnell worked “in concert” with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to get something passed ASAP, that “more Americans will die, become ill, or experience economic hardship.”

Her version of events, however, is not how it happened. See the below correction, issued by the Washington Post:

Not only that, but as NRSC senior adviser Matt Whitlock noted, there were other errors:

The ironic thing here is that Rubin and the Washington Post are both notorious for accusing Trump of willfully distorting the truth and misleading people, as this Twitter user correctly pointed out:

Democracy dies in darkness, right?

Not only does the Washington Post employ senior editors, but they also employ fact checkers. None of them caught any of this until after her column was published. And even then they only issued one of the three corrections needed.

But the Orange Man is Bad, and stuff, so that makes the intentional incorrect information excusable or something, I guess.
