For some odd reason, as the number of cases of the Wuhan virus in America has grown, some Democratic politicians including failed presidential candidate Sen. Elizabeth Warren have bizarrely suggested the United States completely divert funding from the border wall to combat the virus.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand why this is not just a bad idea. It’s a really, really stupid idea, too.

Nevertheless, Democrats are so obsessed over border wall funding that emergency funding to fight the Wuhan virus was initially stalled as House Speaker Pelosi Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and other House Democratic leaders worked last month to make sure President Trump couldn’t transfer funds from the emergency funding bill to the border wall.

Trump signed the supplemental funding bill last week, but where there is good news on the issue of combating the Wuhan virus there is also bad news.

Vox reported today on how aid workers are growing increasingly concerned that the Wuhan virus will soon hit migrant camps in border cities, even though to date, “only seven cases have been identified across all of Mexico”:

Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) responded by noting how now was an especially bad time for Democrats to be promoting anything remotely close to an open borders policy:

Former Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach told Fox News last month the fact that the border still was not adequately secured (thanks to Democrats) meant more Wuhan virus problems were on the horizon, even though the administration made the right call to limit entry into the U.S.:

“Because Congress failed to give President Trump the money early enough and in enough quantity, we still don’t have adequate border wall built.”

Kobach had previously helped the Trump administration draft their border plan.

“And so, there is a wide-open door there,” he warned. “And get this, Pete. Just last year there was an 85 percent increase — an 85 percent jump — in the number of Chinese nationals sneaking in the country illegally over the southern border. It’s estimated upwards of 12,000 a year maybe coming in illegally.”

Don’t hold you breath on this, but both Joe Biden and Sen. Bernie Sanders should be asked about this very issue at the next Democratic debate (which is on Sunday). As concerns and fears over the Wuhan virus grow, Americans have a right to know where Trump’s eventual opponent stands on the issue of border security in the midst of this outbreak.
