Watching failed presidential candidate Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) get knocked down a peg or two, rhetorically speaking, never ever gets old.

Swalwell, who has represented California’s 15th congressional district since 2013, loves to artificially inflate his importance as a member of Congress every chance he gets. We’ve seen this often often on social media and during public hearings when he tries (and often fails) to one-up his political opposition in wars of words.

Today during the high drama of the whistleblower hearing over the allegations that President Trump engaged in impeachable offenses during a July phone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Swalwell was aggressively questioning acting DNI Joseph Maguire, who was holding his own against the stampede of indignant House Democrats desperately looking for their gotcha moment in front of the cameras.

During the exchange, Maguire unintentionally misgendered Swalwell – calling him “Congresswoman”:

Swalwell began his questioning by asking Maguire about the “definition of a cover up,” then inquired why the transcript of July’s phone call was moved “to a secret classified information system.” Maguire appeared to slip up during one of his responses, calling Swalwell “congresswoman.”

“In the whistleblower’s complaint, the whistleblower alleges that immediately after the president’s call with the president of Ukraine on July 25, White House lawyers moved quickly to direct White House officials to move electronic transcripts from one computer system where it was normally stored to a secret classified information system. Is that right?” Swalwell said.

“Congresswoman – excuse me, sir, I apologize,” Maguire replied before being interrupted by Swalwell.

Swalwell did not look amused. In fact, he looked a wee bit deflated. Watch:

A few “feminists” were displeased over the fact that Twitter users erupted in laughter in the aftermath, but as a woman I found it pretty funny, too. Why? Because even though it’s not really an insult, Swalwell is just the kind of self-centered narcissistic windbag who would think it was.

Honestly, it could not have happened to a more deserving guy.
