As I wrote earlier today, Democrats and the mainstream media are, as usual, in agreement and have declared tweets posted by President Trump this weekend critical of Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD-7) and his district as “racist.”
To recap, Trump had the audacity to echo what some of the same Democrats and media outlets ripping him now have said in so many words in the past about Baltimore (minus the criticisms of Cummings). Here’s some of what Trump wrote about Cummings and Baltimore that started the latest round of outrage:
“Rep. Elijah Cummings has been a brutal bully, shouting and screaming at the great men & women of Border Patrol about conditions at the Southern Border, when actually his Baltimore district is FAR WORSE and more dangerous. His district is considered the Worst in the USA. As proven last week during a Congressional tour, the Border is clean, efficient & well run, just very crowded. Cumming[s’] District is a disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess. If he spent more time in Baltimore, maybe he could help clean up this very dangerous & filthy place.”
Fox News‘s Greg Gutfeld made a good point on Twitter Saturday on the issue of the President criticizing Cummings, noting Trump’s actions on race-related issues are at odds with the portrait Democrats and the media often paint of him:
Trumps about to execute a white supremacist, while trying to free a black rapper from jail, as he pushes prison reform that directly benefits families of black men, while calling out a city where minorities are victims of crime & blight. if Trumps a racist, he sucks at it.

The man has a point. A racist white President, after all, would not do things to help the black community.
I noted in my post this morning that it was a mistake for people to assume that Trump was racist simply because he criticized a black Congressman and a district that is predominantly black.
He’s an equal opportunity critic. He claps back at people who take off after him. No matter their race, no matter if they are a man or woman. And no matter the party. It doesn’t matter.
I made related points in a Twitter thread Sunday, also noting that The Usual Suspects are weakening definition of the word “racism” to mean only what liberals decide it means at any given time:
Falsely accusing someone of racism is similar to falsely accusing someone of rape. If false accusations happen enough, ppl who've really been victims have a harder time getting ppl to believe them. Sadly, certain parties have vested interests in stirring the misogyny/racism pots.

Seriously. It's like clockwork. And people are getting sick of the manipulation and the deliberate stoking of wars between different groups.

Simply put, the word “racist” (like the words “sexist” and “homophobe”) has been watered down to mean “anyone who disagrees with Democrats on race-related issues” and “any white person who criticizes a black Democrat.” We heard it non-stop during President Obama’s two terms in office, and Democrats have only escalated the use of the dishonest tactic during Trump’s term.
It’s insulting to actual victims of racism, and Democrats and media types who use the race card as a substitute for substantive arguments against Trump’s words and polices ought to be ashamed of themselves – assuming they have any shame left.
