Multiple news outlets reported yesterday on the death of a Guatemalan teenager who was U.S. custody at our southern border. The Hill reported:

A Guatemalan teenager has died in U.S. custody, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) confirmed Monday.

The 16-year-old boy was apprehended and processed for illegally crossing the border near Hidalgo, Texas, on May 13, after which he was transferred to the Weslaco Station in the U.S. Border Patrol’s Rio Grande Valley Sector, according to CBP.

The incident marks the fifth death of an immigrant minor at the southern border since December.

In response to this news, presidential candidate and Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) took to Twitter to express his frustration:

While there’s certainly nothing wrong with voicing your concern about this issue and demanding answers, I found Booker’s stance on “protecting the most vulnerable” interesting, considering his position on abortion:

In fact, just a few days ago – in a shameless, obvious attempt at pandering to so-called “feminists” – Booker penned an opinion piece for GQ magazine in which he urged men to step up and join the fight against the GOP’s efforts “to erode women’s reproductive rights and freedom nationwide.” Booker wrote:

But women should not have to face this fight alone.

Men, it’s on us to listen, to speak out, and to take action. Not because women are our mothers, sisters, wives or friends—but because women are people. And all people deserve to control their own bodies.

These far-right attacks on women’s rights must be understood as an attack on all of our rights. But we also need to understand who these types of bills were designed to control, dehumanize, and criminalize.

Well, he does have his virtue-signaling and talking points down pat – I’ll give him that.

But that wasn’t all. Booker let the guys know that, hey, there were advantages for men, too, when it comes to women having the “right to choose”:

For men, abortion is not something many feel the need or desire to talk about—it’s too uncomfortable. But that’s a trap—and one we need to get out of immediately. Men need to acknowledge that they benefit from abortion rights and reproductive health care, too.

Yeah, guys, abortion benefits y’all, too, because it totally means that if you and your girl have unprotected sex, you both can get off the baby hook with just a simple visit to a local abortion clinic. Progress!

Booker, like most Democrats, supports abortion on demand, including in the third-trimester up until the point of birth. Which means he’s perfectly okay with a woman aborting a vulnerable unborn child who has passed the point of viability.

So here’s Cory Booker’s question again, this time directed straight to him: Who are we if we can’t protect the most vulnerable?
