Rudy Guiliani’s mission on behalf of the Trump Campaign at the RNC Convention was to wrap exploding big city crime rates around the necks of the politicians responsible – all of whom happen to be Democrats.

The comparisons could not have been more timely or apt.  While Mayor of New York City, Rudy Guiliani led a rejuvenation of that City’s inner core by dramatically reducing crime and cleaning up neighborhoods that had been allowed to deteriorate under the benign neglect of Democrat predecessors Ed Koch and David Dinkins.  I’m not going to rehash the “broken windows” theory of policing, but it basically means that if you first address crimes of low-level criminality, like vandalism and loitering, you break a cycle of criminality that ultimately leads to more serious crimes.  The theory is that low-level criminal activity if allowed to go unchecked, fosters an environment that leads to greater and more violent criminality.

Electing another Republican to be Mayor of New York City seems a fantasy in today’s world.  But the condition of New York City under the “leadership” of Democrat Bill de Blasio has become a nightmare.

As Rudy pointed out, de Blasio’s New York City is not an anomaly today — its the product of specific policies of malign neglect that are being put in place by Democrat mayors in big cities across the country.  He argued that Joe Biden’s candidacy is simply a “Trojan Horse” that carries within it the intentions of the far left wing of the Democrat party led by Sanders and AOC, advancing the agenda of Marxist groups like Black Lives Matter.

In the immediate aftermath of George Floyd’s death, GOP Senators led by South Carolina Democrat Tim Scott put forth a proposal of police reforms to be adopted nationwide.  At the outset it appeared that this would come together in a bipartisan effort to address long-standing issues of police misconduct that had been central to Democrat complaints.

But the political imperative of beating Donald Trump in the November election took over the common sense of the leaders of the Democrat Party, as nothing that could be considered any form of policy success by the GOP and the Trump Administration could ever be countenanced.  Opposition for the sake of opposing Donald Trump has been the guiding principle for Democrat Party leadership for more than 3 years, and George Floyd’s death gave the far left-wing the cause they needed to use to drive the opposition on policy grounds, all of which would be undermined by any show of bipartisan cooperation even on matters upon which the two sides could find common ground.

Nancy Peolsi and Chuck Schumer no longer control the Democrat Party agenda.  The Democrat primary process, while producing Joe Biden as the Party’s candidate, has nevertheless been completely captured by the far left-wing of the Party as was evidenced by the policy agenda aped by all Democrat candidates during the primary campaign, and echoed last week at the DNC Telethon.

That fact alone is driving life-long Democrats to leave the Party and join the GOP in support of Donald Trump’s reelection.

The cooption of the Democrat Party by radical Marxist groups like Antifa, and formal organizations like Black Lives Matter, was the vehicle to spread violence and destruction beyond Minneapolis.  Rioting for the sake of rioting was triggered in big cities across the country — but not in Middle America.  But the sad reality is that when the rioting takes over sections of Democrat-controlled cities like New York, Seattle, Chicago, Atlanta, etc., the victims of physical violence and property destruction are going to be mostly Democrats.  The mayors and district attorneys in those cities, many of whom found political and financial support from groups funded by George Soros, sat back and insisted that their residents and business owners “absorb the blows” according to Guiliani.

Guiliani pointed out that overlooked in the stampede to champion the causes of the “George Floyds” of the world are the young black lives being lost to the explosion of inner city violence in the wake of standing-down police activity in places like New York City and Chicago, where the Democrat mayors have ordered a dismantling of various policing initiatives aimed at combatting violent crime.  The focus of this modern Democrat approach to public safety is all centered on the “rights” of criminals, not the rights of citizens and victims.

It is clear that a vote for Biden and the Democrats creates the risk that you will bring this lawlessness to your city, to your town, to your suburb. There is no question that this awesome job of restoring safety for our people cannot be done from your basement, Joe.
