Brace yourselves for the wailing and gnashing of teeth. President Donald J. Trump’s latest approval ratings just delivered a brutal reality check to his predecessors.
Despite the constant negative, false media coverage and efforts by Democrat lawmakers trying to portray him as a Nazi, the president has a higher approval rating at this stage of his presidency than George W. Bush and Barack Obama.
You wouldn't know it by watching any major news outlet. Go ahead, turn one of them on. You'd think Trump was trudging along through the worst performance to ever come out of the White House.
The efforts don't seem to be having much of an effect.

Now, don't get me wrong. None of the numbers for Bush, Obama, or Trump on March 5th of the second year of their second term are anything worth crowing about. Even a pitcher's duel in the Big Leagues or a defensive battle in the NBA can be a little ugly to watch at times, but the fact remains, even in the world of politics ... scoreboard, chumps.
According to RealClearPolitics averages, Trump now holds a higher job approval rating (43.3 percent) at this stage of his second term than both Obama (42.5 percent) and Bush (38.7 percent) did at the same point in theirs.
What is worth crowing about here? What Trump has overcome that the other two haven't. When you consider the unprecedented media hostility the President has faced since Day One — compared to the fawning coverage Obama received for eight straight years and the far milder scrutiny Bush endured — the numbers become downright astounding.
Sure, W. was the original next coming of Hitler in some circles, but he didn't get inundated with a 24/7 cycle of negativity from the media for his entire two terms in office. In fact, he had a ton of goodwill and positive press as America emerged from the 9/11 tragedy.
And Obama, please. Where to begin? The press pretended his biggest scandal, despite ample evidence to the contrary, was wearing a tan suit.
Trump-bashing, however, since about 2015, has been a relentless pursuit by the media. So prevalent has it been that they somehow managed to mainstream the jailing of political opponents, removing them from ballots, harassing grandmothers who pray for life, and encouraging assassination attempts.
The reality? Corporate media’s non-stop war on Trump is failing spectacularly with the American people. Particularly those within his own party.
"Republicans love Donald Trump more than any president's own party's supporters loved them at this particular point," CNN data guru Harry Enten explains.

Yowza. Republicans love the President. Americans approve of him more than they did either Obama or Bush.
Maybe MAGA isn't dead after all?
(Side note - For those wondering, the autopen's approval rating on March 5th of the second year of his only term in office sat at 41.5 percent. Each of these men suffered from the negativity of the political world. The cynicism and the hostility directed at the person who happens to be in office. It's just that Trump is actually suffering less.)
Editor’s Note: The 2026 Midterms will determine the fate of President Trump’s America First agenda. Republicans must maintain control of both chambers of Congress.
