Pride STL (St. Louis) has launched a grassroots funding campaign after Anheuser-Busch declined to sponsor this year's pride festival for the first time in over 30 years.
The move marks yet another sign that the DEI (diversity, equity, inclusion) push continues to suffer in the new Trump era.
NBC affiliate KDSK reports that other sponsors have already withdrawn their contributions to the pride festival. But Anheuser-Busch, brewers of Dylan Mulvaney's beer of choice, pulling out seems significant—symbolic, even.
The organization posted the sad news on its site, noting that it is currently over $150,000 short of its goal to bring the parade and other events to its community. According to Pride STL, that is "especially painful."
As such, they need donations to make up the difference.
"For decades, Pride St. Louis has been fortunate to receive support from incredible corporate sponsors. However, we are devastated this year that our hometown brewer, Anheuser-Busch, has declined to sponsor PrideFest after more than 30 years of partnership," they write.
"At a time when many sponsors have already reduced their contributions, this decision is especially painful."

Pride STL has now launched a new campaign in which they're asking supporters for a $45 donation to claw back that $150,000 shortfall.
"This milestone is not just about PrideFest—it’s about the work Pride St. Louis has done for decades to uplift, empower, and serve the LGBTQIA+ community year-round," they write.
Serious question, and I know I'm going off on a tangent here, but if the '+' sign represents all the other letters in the alphabet that are attributed to the remaining genders and sexualities, why wouldn't it just be placed after the 'L'?
'L+' seems like it would save a lot of bandwidth. Just sayin'.
"While we are deeply disappointed that Anheuser-Busch has chosen to step away from supporting PrideFest this year, we remain hopeful that the community will step up where they have stepped down," the statement from Pride STL continues.
"The community and our board are clear—canceling PrideFest is not an option.”
The news comes as my RedState colleague Mike Miller reported just last week that major corporations - including Anheuser-Busch - have pulled their funding from the San Francisco Pride (SF Pride) event.
SF Pride is the world's largest such event.
"Other than the obstinance on full display by Costco as it continues to double down on its support of DEI insanity, corporations are continuing to wake up to a fundamental rule in life: Play stupid games, win stupid prizes," Miller writes.
SF Pride is being defunded. Five corporate sponsors have pulled out funding totaling about $300,000 of the $1.2 million needed for the event.

Corporate sponsors who pulled out include Comcast, Anheuser-Busch, and Diageo.

Dylan Mulvaney, a transgender TikTok sensation, appeared in a pair of videos pitching Bud Light roughly two years ago. The videos received significant pushback from the public, and consumers voiced their displeasure with the company's transition to a woke sales pitch by taking their hard-earned dollars elsewhere.
The result? Bud Light sales dropped by 30% for a significant period after the controversial videos were released.
