Hijacking the Senseless Brutality of a Selfish and Iniquitous Man

A Confused And Troubled Man Is Hajacked For Political Symbolism

If I were to write an obituary for deceased Kansas City Chiefs Linebacker Jovan Belcher, I would suggest he was a talented athlete with poor impulse control who threw away the opportunity to live a happy and fulfilling life by refusing to properly marry the mother of his child. He instead argued with her, chased other women, went home intoxicated and shot her nine times with one of his weapons. He then drove his Rolls Royce to his workplace and deliberately killed himself in front of his coach and the GM who hired him. The child, the girlfriend, the Head Coach and the GM all suffered the murderous and suicidal tyranny of the selfish.

But many other people have reasons why Jovan Belcher, shot himself and the mother of his 3-month old baby on Saturday 1 December. These reasons have nothing to do with any decisions made by the 25-year-old adult and generally dove-tail conveniently with ideological causes that these individuals believe in. For example, according to Congresslady DeGette from Colorado, Javon belcher killed neither himself, nor the mother of his three month old baby. The gun leapt out of his hand both times and did it for him.

“With the senseless tragedy in Kansas City this weekend, once again, gun violence finds its way onto our nation’s front pages; and once again we hear the same stale arguments from both sides of the political spectrum,” DeGette told The Hill in an email. “It’s clear these old arguments are doing nothing to protect our families and our society, so I urge our nation to come together and change the conversation.”

According to Kevin Powell writing for CNN, it was testosterone poisoning that warped his mind. The man who grew up with a single mother, three sisters and never even knew to wait for Daddy to come home from work, lived in far too macho a world to control his vile masculine will to power.

We must struggle, harder than ever, as men, as boys, as a nation, to reach the point where a heart-to-heart conversation is the first and only option, not a gun, not gun violence. The lives of Jovan Belcher and Kasandra Perkins will have been in vain completely if we do not go deeper within ourselves to teach and show our sons, our husbands, our boyfriends, our fathers, our men and boys, that there is another way.

The New York Post believes he had football-related head injuries and was taking painkillers and went drinking every day.

Kansas City Chiefs linebacker and former Long Island high-school star Jovan Belcher was allegedly battling football-related head injuries and booze, painkiller and domestic problems when he snapped and murdered his girlfriend before killing himself in front of two coaches Saturday. A pal of Belcher’s told the Web site Deadspin.com that Kasandra Perkins, the mother of Belcher’s 3-month-old daughter, had threatened to leave him for good amid fighting between the pair.

Other possible causes are grotesquely inconvenient and not nice to talk about. Jovan Belcher could have married the woman he impregnated. If he could afford to drive a Rolls Royce Bentley, he could also fork over a nice ring and a few boxes of Pampers. Both ends could have met, if Belcher weren’t too busy making one of them drink. The mother of his child may not have been out to a concert until 1 AM if Mr. Belcher weren’t on the other side of town getting laid.

One caller to the Schnitt Show Radio Program claims that Belcher was pretty much the type of guy you’d expect to behave in exactly the selfish and destructive manner in which he behaved. The caller claimed Belcher terrorized his son while attending the same High School in New York. He said the following.

“We went to the police, we went to the Department of Education. We couldn’t do nothing about this kid. Around adults, he always acted like he was such a sweet little guy.” The caller eventually had to relocate his family to Florida, just to get away from Belcher. About Belcher, the caller said, “He destroyed my family. He should have been dead 10 years ago.” Finally, the caller said, “I’d like to know where he’s buried, so I can go and pee on it.”

When somebody grows up in a house with only one parent, there is very little gun control laws, medical treatment for post-concussion syndrome or deprogramming of the basic manly virtues will do to enhance the chances of this person becoming a properly civilized human being. When someone is so solipsistic that they spend enough money to drive a Rolls Royce, but can’t call off a hot date long enough to look after their own 3-month old infant; that person won’t obey laws, attend medical treatment sessions* or practice sincere enough manhood to remember the needs of anyone related to his brand-new baby. Eventually, the spoiled athlete who has gotten away with everything will probably try and get away with murder.

Writing mean things about a foolish man who wasted great potential in such a tragic fashion will not endear me with the world at large. We like free birth control, not impulse control. We like EBT Cards, not hoeing the back forty on a humid August day. But the fools who write news columns and control microphones have reached for solutions both easy and toxic. They are putting this tragically flawed man on a pedestal as an idol representative of their special pleadings.

Those few and brave that read me *know* I’d be the type of guy to throw the Red BS Flag on the entire emerging Cult of Jovan Belcher. Somebody has to before Bob Costas, Jason Whitlock or Congress Lady DeGette are ever taken seriously in spite of their disingenuous hijacking of a terrible and pointless series of events.
