North Carolina Brings Us Another Healing Moment In The Obama Presidency

The charming woman who announces ”You will not disrespect the president of the United States in this classroom” is hired to teach and to enlighten young minds. She teaches high school in The Great State of North Carolina. She teaches at North Rowan High School in the Rowan-Salisbury School System according to The Salisbury Post.

The school system issued the predictable weasel-worded estoupal to avoid having to hold their personnel accountable. This waste of oxygen and verbiage follows below.

The Rowan-Salisbury School System expects all students and employees to be respectful in the school environment and for all teachers to maintain their professionalism in the classroom. This incident should serve as an education for all teachers to stop and reflect on their interaction with students. Due to personnel and student confidentiality, we cannot discuss the matter publicly.

Delightful. We have a teachable moment. Here is what I’ve learned from listening to this video. If you care about your children, take them out of the public education system as soon as you can afford the privilege. If you cannot afford to do so, become the type of parent who monitors how these children are being “taught” on a daily basis. You pay these teachers salaries. You and your children deserve better than what is being provided at your expense by The Rowan-Salisbury School System.

Be an aggressive activist parent. Do what Rebecca and Mark Stabler did when their child came home crying from 1st Grade after he was bullied by a teacher’s assistant. WLOX in Biloxi recounts how the Stablers took action to defend their little boy Gabe.

Rebecca and Mark Stabler say their 8-year-old son Gabe has come home from Jeff Davis Elementary in tears every day since school began in August. So, they put a tape recorder in his book bag to hear what goes on in his first grade class. The parents said that was on December 10th. When the recording was brought home that night, the Stablers were shocked to hear how assistant teacher Mershelia Williams spoke to the small children. They say her tone and grammar were deplorable.

Because the Stablers loved their child, intervened against a corrupt school system, made the misconduct of the teacher public knowledge so that the administration couldn’t write them off as cranks and vociferously defended their children their situation had a positive resolution. The public humiliation forced the Biloxi, MS school system to take prompt action as is detailed below.

The Stablers said they were told by school officials, Ms. Williams was placed on leave with pay during an investigation that started December 11th. On December 18th, the teaching assistant confirmed she was called into the school district office and fired. Biloxi School Superintendent Dr. Paul Tisdale, who could not confirm that, said, “It is an expectation in Biloxi Public Schools that employees communicate with students, parents, and staff in a professional manner. When these expectations are not met and are brought to the attention of administrators, the facts are checked to determine an appropriate course of administrative action. We can not comment publicly on personnel matters.”

In 1838, when Horace Mann founded the Common School in Massachusetts, he espoused six guiding principles.

His six main principles were: (1) the public should no longer remain ignorant; (2) that such education should be paid for, controlled, and sustained by an interested public; (3) that this education will be best provided in schools that embrace children from a variety of backgrounds; (4) that this education must be non-sectarian; (5) that this education must be taught by the spirit, methods, and discipline of a free society; and (6) that education should be provided by well-trained, professional teachers.

This is not what happened either in MS or in NC. Children are instead being yelled at and brainwashed. You pay for this. Demand better and monitor the schools your children attend. Just as it was with the Tea Party in 2010, your society no longer cares about the welfare of your family. Be peaceful, be graceful, be dignified. But in the end, you like the Stablers and the student who recorded the You-Tube video in North Carolina, will have to be the revolution.
