I wrote about how Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent absolutely savaged the New York Times over their "fatigue" story about President Donald Trump at their own DealBook Summit.
He lit into them for their failure to properly report on Joe Biden's cognitive issues, while also pointing out that Trump was holding three-hour Cabinet meetings. Biden held only one Cabinet meeting in 2024; Trump has held nine in his second term so far.
But that wasn't the only moment of note at the event.

I think it's fair to say much of Hollywood is liberal, so it's quite something to see any criticism directed at Democrats from that quarter.
But actress Halle Berry didn't hold back when it came to California Gov. Gavin Newsom. She took him apart for a big issue and shredded his presidential aspirations. She said, "At this stage in my life, I have zero f---- left to give." And she let it go.
WOW: Actress Halle Berry STUNNED the crowd at Wednesday’s New York Times DealBook Summit by NUKING California Governor Gavin Newsom.

"Back in my great state of California, my very own governor, Gavin Newsom, has vetoed our menopause bill, not one, but two years in a row. But that’s OK, because he’s not going to be governor forever, and the way he has overlooked women, half the population, by devaluing us in midlife, he probably should not be our next president either. Just saying."
Now, that's pretty brave in today's political environment, so I want to give her props for that, knowing there's likely to be backlash. She cares more about the issue and getting things done than the backlash.
The bill, AB 432, introduced by Assemblymember Rebecca Bauer-Kahan, had a goal of improving and expanding menopause care, mandating that a healthcare service plan or health insurer provide recommendations for menopause-related treatments. The bill would have also required healthcare providers to get training on menopause care, according to a press release from Bauer-Kahn.
Newsom vetoed the bill a second time in October.
Her timing was also great. Not only did Berry level Newsom over the bill, to gasps from the audience, but she did it shortly before Newsom spoke at the same event. Newsom also earned a lot of mockery over how he was sitting during the event, with some interpreting his position as "emasculated."
Maybe after Berry leveled him, he was feeling particularly on the spot. And that's just one of the many issues that Newsom has failed to truly address in California, including dealing with the Palisades fire, illegal immigration, homelessness, and a host of other problems. There are so many failures and reasons not to vote for him for higher office.
