When Jeffrey Epstein committed "suicide," I think it's fair to say that a lot of people doubted it, given the situation. Epstein trafficked girls to powerful people, and undoubtedly, they didn't want their names getting out there. It also seemed impossible that such a high-profile prisoner would be able to kill himself when the jail — the Manhattan Correctional Center — should have been especially looking to prevent anything from happening to him.

But the official decision came within a week, saying that it was a suicide, made possible by "screw-ups," so it required no further investigation. A long report was later issued, blaming “long-standing operational challenges” for Epstein’s death.
But his brother, Mark Epstein, isn't buying that. He says that when you look at the facts, "we get more questions."
“There appears to have been no investigation once it was ruled a suicide, they saw no reason to dig deeper," he said. “It seems like a cover-up. Why can’t I find his pre-hospital care report and why can’t I get the 911 call?”
The NY Post has set out some of Mark Epstein's concerns, based on the information available and that he has discovered.
Two medical examiners were present for the autopsy on Epstein, including Dr. Kristin Roman and one hired by Mark, Dr. Michael Baden. They agreed to hold off on the cause of death pending investigation. But then that was changed to suicide by New York Chief Medical Examiner Barbara Samson, saying she had additional evidence that she hasn't revealed.
Baden said Epstein had two breaks on each side of his thyroid cartilage near his Adam’s apple, and one above it on the left side of his hyoid bone, which were “extremely unusual in suicidal hangings” and “could occur much more commonly in homicidal strangulation.”
Baden added: “I’ve not seen in 50 years where that occurred in a suicidal hanging case.”
In addition, no photo was taken of the position of Epstein’s body when he was found — which multiple medical examiners have agreed is a key piece of evidence in determining exactly how he died.
Autopsy photos show the marks on Epstein’s throat from the ligature were in the middle to lower portion of the neck, and straight, not raised and pointing toward the side and back of the throat in a way more consistent with hanging.
Then, there were questions about the evidence.
According to CBS, there were two nooses found in the cell. The guard who found Epstein ripped one off of him. Yet, according to this report, the noose submitted into evidence was not the one ripped from his body; it had no rips or stains from Epstein's body. The EMTs who attended to Epstein were not interviewed, which would normally be done. Mark also explained his brother had a sleep apnea machine with an electrical cord in the cell, but that wasn't used.
As Mark noted, the hospital staff say they can't find the pre-care hospital report on Epstein. And despite being dead for two to six hours, they still took him to the hospital, put him in a hospital gown, and on a gurney. That seems more than a little odd — if he was already dead.
The 911 call made by the jail has also never been released.
Then there was the incident where Epstein claimed he was attacked by his cellmate (a now-convicted killer) and sustained neck injuries. That's not been explained, but he was not supposed to have a cellmate after that. Yet, the new cellmate he had was transferred out about a day before he died.
Then, there was the problem with the video evidence.
According to the Department for Justice’s investigation, “Recorded video evidence for Aug. 9 and 10 for the SHU area where Epstein was housed was only available from one prison security camera due to a malfunction of MCC New York’s Digital Video Recorder system.”
However, it also notes that “between approximately 10:40 p.m. on August 9 and about 6:30 a.m. on August 10, no one was seen entering Epstein’s cell tier from the SHU common area.”
Despite Freedom of Information Act requests being filed, the footage from the working camera, particularly showing when Epstein’s body was removed from the tier in the morning, has never been released to the public.
Then there were the sleeping guards who didn't check on the prisoners as they were supposed to but fell asleep about 15 feet from where Epstein was. They falsified their records, saying they did check on the prisoners.

But in exchange for cooperating in the investigation, the charges were dropped. Funny how that works.
There were also two other guards who were supposed to be on duty that night. Yet, their names have never come out.
Mark also doubts it because Epstein had a bail hearing coming up where he might have been let out pending trial. So, he doesn't see why he would have committed suicide before a hearing that might have released him.
The questions have led to the meme, "Epstein didn't kill himself," because so many people doubt the official story. But it doesn't sound like the powers that be want to answer any of these questions anytime soon.
