Deadspin Writer Who Targeted Child Tries to Take on Kevin Sorbo - That Was the Wrong Choice

The Deadspin targeting of a little boy was a great example of everything that's wrong with liberals these days.

It wasn't just that they smeared a child as a racist and cobbled together a "story that wasn't" to fit the narrative that someone wanted to push. On top of that, let's talk about the complete lack of journalistic effort to delve into what the facts were and why it was a garbage take to say the boy was wearing "blackface."

Writers can be mistaken, but most admit their mistakes. That is, if they have any honor and care about their credibility. Carron Phillips' immediate take was to make it even worse, by claiming that the fact the boy had a red and black face wasn't disproving the blackface; it was essentially double racist, he contended. But then, that tweet was deleted. Could that mean he had a conscience?

Probably not. Indeed, Phillips continued to battle on X over the issue. He responded to actor Kevin Sorbo, after Sorbo came to the boy's defense, as our friends at our sister site Twitchy observed.

"Hey @carronJphillips @Deadspin when you’re done writing this kid a big fat check could you make up something about me?' Sorbo zinged him. "I’ll use the defamation suit to fund my next movie."

Boom, that was definitely on target.

Phillips thought he had a zippy comeback.

But it fell rather flat, given what Phillips does for a living. He works for Deadspin where stories go to implode. They were mostly known before this for getting owned by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX). Now, they may be owned by this little kid shortly, should he decide to sue them for their actions.

Meanwhile, maybe he ought to check how many followers Sorbo has -- 1.8 million people. He has just a bit more reach than Phillips, with his job for Deadspin and 11.1 thousand followers. Sorbo also had three movies out in 2023. I'm willing to bet more people have seen them than have read Phillips' articles normally.

But Phillips shows he continues to have no shame with this line of attack. He just seems to want to keep doubling down.

It didn't end well for him. He should have just taken the "L" and gone quietly into the sunset.
