Nashville Officials Reveal Critical Info About Why Shooter Targeted School That Everyone Needs to Hear

There’s an important part of the Nashville shooting that hasn’t gotten the attention it deserves and everyone arguing on the question of what we should do about school shootings needs to hear it.

Nashville City Council Member Robert Swope told the NY Post some important information.

Police have not yet released information related to the motive, but said the school — not specific victims — was targeted.

Swope told The Post that Hale had “looked at” two other schools, both public, before deciding “the security was too great to do what she wanted to do.”

“So she chose a private Christian school, for, probably the reason is that the security is a whole lot less,” he went on.

That convinced Swope that they needed to “harden our schools from ballistics, active AI systems that can recognize guns at a hundred yards outside under any circumstances.” He said he and other Nashville officials were looking into how they could do that.

Swope’s comments confirmed something that Nashville Police Chief John Drake has previously said that most media seems to have skipped right over. He said essentially the same thing, although he noted that the other locations included a mall.

“We strongly believe there was going to be some other targets, including maybe family members, and one of the malls here in Nashville,” Drake said. “And that just did not happen.”

So why didn’t the shooter hit the other location that she was considering?

“There was another location that was mentioned, but because of a threat assessment by the suspect of too much security, they decided not to,” Drake said. “That area was here in Nashville, so we’re continuing with that investigation as well.”

Oh, so you mean security stopped Hale from picking the other location and she went to the gun-free zone of a school because she knew it wouldn’t be a hardened target and she would face no opposition? Say that again and start paging all the people on the left who don’t seem to understand this simple fact. That includes Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) who had an unhinged fit in the Congressional hallway, blaming the Republicans for not doing something. When Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) stopped and brought up his bill to have trained teachers be armed, so that there might be some measure of security, Bowman flipped out, saying more guns equal more death. But we can see that more security stopped Hale from going to that other location. That’s what needs to happen in schools, so shooters don’t automatically know that they have a “gun-free zone” and no opposition to them making it a killing field. This is information that everyone needs to hear to factor into these discussions.

Indeed, as I noted, in some of the schools where leftists pushing defunding the police were successful in having officers removed from the school, it didn’t end well — with people being shot, such as at the Denver East High School. Now they are trying to have at least one officer in all the Denver high schools in the wake of that shooting a week ago.

There’s a lesson there for future action to protect kids if the left would get off their anti-gun agenda long enough to see it. But, unfortunately, I don’t think they care and I don’t think they will.
