Joe Biden is clueless and a hypocrite on so many different levels.

He demonstrated that big time with the state dinner that he threw for French President Emmanuel Macron to shore up relations. In 2021, the Biden administration damaged relations when they made a submarine deal with the Australians, which undercut a deal that the Australians had with France. Just one of the many things that the Biden White House has messed up in the time he’s been in office.

In the middle of crushing inflation, he’s throwing a dinner like this when people can barely afford to put food on the table for their families because of him? Talk about not caring; that’s it in spades. Of course, Biden’s team is now blaming us for the inflation he caused–that’s how shameless they are at this point.

But there was another problem, too. Democrat Rep. Jared Golden from Maine’s 2nd Congressional District tore into Biden over it.

“If the Biden White House can prioritize purchasing 200 Maine lobsters for a fancy dinner,” Golden wrote, “@POTUS should also take the time to meet with the Maine lobstermen his administration is currently regulating out of business.”

Good for Golden for having the courage to call Biden out on this and truly represent his constituents. Golden has also shown willingness in the past to stand up to bad ideas from Biden, by voting against the American Rescue Plan that helped to spark the inflation we are now suffering.

Being a lobster fisherman is a tough life as it is, but add to that the Biden/Democratic regulations and you have a recipe for disaster.

“In 2020, while running for president, Biden pledged, ‘I will work to protect the livelihood and safety of the fishing community,’ in reference to lobstermen. He has yet to take a single action to make good on that pledge,” Golden said in October. “You cannot espouse being a president for working people while simultaneously overseeing the destruction of an entire blue-collar fishery and its community’s heritage and way of life.”

Politicians on both sides of the aisle have called on Biden to rescind new lobster fishing regulations. The regulations forbid the use of some fishing gear because conservationists claim that some lobster gear can be a threat to endangered whales–despite the fact there’s no evidence that it’s resulted in the deaths of any of the whales. That caused the Marine Stewardship Council and Seafood Watch to pull their support for the lobster industry, and Whole Foods announced it would stop carrying lobster at stores last month.

In September, the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch designated Maine Lobster as a food to “avoid,” directly citing a threat to right whales. Thousands of food distribution companies, including meal order giants Hello Fresh and Blue Apron, followed the Watch’s recommendations and announced they would pull Maine lobster from their menus. On Nov. 21, Whole Foods announced it would stop buying Maine lobster. In its explanation, the company said cited the Watch’s designation.

Maine’s Congressional delegation and fisherman representatives have denounced the moves. During a Sept. 9 press conference, Sen. Angus King, I-Maine, called the aquarium an “arrogant fish zoo,” and has since proposed the Red List Monterey Bay Aquarium Act, aimed at cutting federal funding to the nonprofit. Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, is a co-sponsor.

Biden still wants to eat the lobster as he puts these workers out of the business. Yet he claims he cares about workers? It’s a joke. It’s waving it in their face as he punishes them with ridiculous restrictions. And while he enjoys the lobster, he’s putting it out of the reach of other Americans–one more thing that Biden is damaging so much that even some other Democrats are willing to call him out on it.
