New Questions About Charges, Mugshot, Body Cam in Arrest of Paul Pelosi

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband, Paul Pelosi, was arrested on May 29 for allegedly driving under the influence and driving with a blood-alcohol level of over 0.08. He was driving a 2021 Porsche and was involved in a crash with another vehicle before he was arrested. According to the police reports, the accident happened at 10:26 p.m.; Pelosi was arrested around 11:44 p.m., but then he wasn’t booked until 4:13 a.m. It’s not been explained why there’s such a long time in between the arrest and the booking time. He was then released around three hours later.

There continue to be a lot of questions about the case.

One of the big questions is where is that mugshot that we have traditionally seen after someone is arrested? How about the body cam? Why haven’t we seen them yet? Multiple media outlets have made requests.

But authorities are refusing to release them, saying they could “jeopardize” the investigation.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) on Thursday denied a public records request seeking the release of body and dashboard camera video documenting Paul Pelosi’s arrest last month on suspicion of drunk driving.

CHP informed Fox News Digital in a letter that it has the footage in question, “however, the Napa County District Attorney’s Office has advised the release of records would jeopardize an ongoing investigation.”

So, I have a question here. How would releasing a video of an intoxicated Paul Pelosi “jeopardize” the investigation? Would someone like to explain that to me? Funny how it hasn’t jeopardized the investigation in so many other cases where some Joe Blow off the street is arrested and we’ve seen body cam. Why would a mugshot jeopardize the investigation? We see mugshots of every Tom, Dick, and Harry. What not a Paul?

But there’s another concern: are they going to charge him at all?

Over the last day or so, some were spreading an erroneous report that the charges against him had been dismissed. That’s not true. However, it’s not clear that he’s going to be charged yet, according to the D.A., Allison Haley.

In a separate press release Thursday, the DA’s Office said that it has not decided yet what, if any, charges, will be filed against the 82-year-old businessman.

“This is standard protocol in any DUI case that is referred by a law enforcement agency in Napa County,” the agency stated. “No decision has been made at this time. Any speculation to the contrary is incorrect.”

They said that “[t]he case is currently under review to decide what, if any, charges will be filed against Mr. Pelosi.”

So, they haven’t even decided to charge him. Is he going to skate? Why would there be a question? They aren’t talking. Also, if they charge him, they’re not even going to arraign him until 8:30 a.m. on August 3. Usually, an arraignment is within a day or two of the arrest. So, why is this being put off to a time when many are on vacation?

A whole lot of questions, but not a lot of answers forthcoming from authorities. They need to answer up here.
