In the happy virtual reality that Joe Biden paints, everyone will get around on electric public transportation.
Except in this present reality, Joe Biden’s green dreams are harming Americans right now by shutting down our own energy independence, having to rely upon other countries, building up their options while cutting our own. He cut the Keystone XL pipeline and the drilling that the Willow Project in Alaska would have provided. Now he’s even considering cutting Enbridge’s Line 5.
How significant is that? According to Enbridge:
Line 5 supplies 65% of propane demand in the Upper Peninsula, and 55% of Michigan’s statewide propane needs. Overall, Line 5 transports up to 540,000 barrels per day (bpd) of light crude oil, light synthetic crude, and natural gas liquids (NGLs), which are refined into propane.
Lawmakers who represent that area called it “essential to the lifeblood of the Midwest.”
“Should this pipeline be shut down, tens of thousands of jobs would be lost across Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, and the region; billions of dollars in economic activity would be in jeopardy; and the environment would be at greater risk due to additional trucks operating on roadways and railroads carrying hazardous materials,” Rep. Bob Latta (R-Ohio) wrote to President Biden last week in a letter that was signed by a dozen other congressional lawmakers.
They also pointed to the impact on prices and shortages should the pipeline be closed.
“Furthermore, as we enter the winter months and temperatures drop across the Midwest, the termination of Line 5 will undoubtedly further exacerbate shortages and price increases in home heating fuels like natural gas and propane at a time when Americans are already facing rapidly rising energy prices, steep home heating costs, global supply shortages, and skyrocketing gas prices.”
But it isn’t just Republicans objecting now to Biden’s horrible moves.
On Monday, 11 Democratic senators wrote to Biden and told him that whatever his green dreams, we needed to “ensure that Americans are able to afford to fill up their cars at the pump in the meantime.” Now that should be self-evident, but not apparently to Joe Biden.

The senators were Jack Reed (D-RI), Bob Casey (D-PA), Patrick Leahy (D-VT), Maggie Hassan (D-NH), Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), Ed Markey (D-MA), Tina Smith (D-MN), Chris Van Hollen (D-MA), Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), and Sherrod Brown (D-OH).
The 11 Democrats highlighted how high the gas prices are already now, noting the “national price for a gallon of gasoline is the highest it has been since 2014, with an increase of more than $1 per gallon since this time last year.” They stated further that “in our home states, high gasoline prices have placed an undue burden on families and small businesses trying to make ends meet, and have proven especially burdensome as our constituents continue to recover from the economic fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Translation? We know some of us are coming up for election in 2022 and we are going to get trounced in our elections because of what you are doing and how it’s hurting Americans.
Now the 11 senators asked for him to consider “a release from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve and a ban on crude oil exports.” But we shouldn’t even be talking about taking anything out of reserves when Biden is considering cutting pipelines we have in operation now. Stop that kind of madness immediately.
This is also a signal for the future. If you think it’s bad now, understand once you start down this road to subordinate everything to the green dreams, it can get much worse. This is just the start of how crazy it could be.
