Over the weekend, Joe Biden was busted for not wearing a mask in an expensive D.C. seafood restaurant, while he was there walking around the restaurant with his wife, who was also unmasked, and when he came out of the restaurant.
D.C. has had a mask mandate in effect since July 31 for any indoor businesses open to the public. Biden is constantly pushing masking to people and chastising the unvaccinated. He also signed an executive order requiring masks be worn on federal property which he immediately broke.
So you knew it would be coming up as a question to White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki to explain Biden’s failure to follow his own rules and the D.C. mandate. I was curious as to how she was going to try to spin this. Fox’s Peter Doocy asked her why Biden and his wife were not wearing masks in the restaurant, given the mandate.
Jen Psaki defends Joe Biden violating the DC mask mandate:
"There are moments when we all don't put masks back on as quickly as we should."
She says that it's important to "not overly focus on moments in time that don't reflect overarching policy." pic.twitter.com/wE86fhxint

“Well, I think what we are referring to is a photo of them walking out of a restaurant after they had eaten, masks in hand, where they had not had put them back on yet,” Psaki said.
“So I would say, of course, there are moments when we all don’t put masks back on as quickly as we should,” she continued. “But I don’t think we should lose the forest through the trees here in that our objective here is to get more people vaccinated, make sure that that schools and companies around the country can put in place requirements to save more lives and keep people safer and not overly focus on moments in time that don’t reflect overarching policy.”
She continued the spin when Doocy pressed her. “There is a carve out for people under two or people who are actively eating or drinking,” Doocy said. “So I’m just curious why the president was doing this.” “I think I just addressed it, Peter,” Psaki claimed.
This of course is typical spin. There was video of Biden and Jill in the restaurant without masks, a picture of them standing and talking maskless, and then video of him coming out without it, although holding a mask in his hands.

Then the rest of her remarks are something else. It’s actually more offensive than her telling us to disregard the evidence of our own eyes as to what Biden did. Don’t look at what Biden actually does, she says, ignore the obvious hypocrisy, just pay attention to the policy and do what we tell you to do, you peasants! Indeed, she’s effectively saying “Rule for thee, not for me.” She managed to give an even worse answer than I might have imagined. Why would anyone listen to anything these people have to say when they act this way and give such responses?
Now, I don’t think there should be a mandate. But he does and he’s always pushing it on other people. So he should stop being a hypocrite and own that he’s not acting in accord with his own words.
