Joe Biden Makes Another, Horrible Foreign Policy Decision

When my younger brother was a little boy, he used to lie about his accomplishments.

Why? Because as the youngest of five siblings — all of whom had achieved some success in different ways in school — he felt insecure, not yet having grown into his own. As a result, he would often brag about himself to make up for that feeling of deficiency. As he got older, more mature and was able to achieve things on his own, he grew out of that as a teenager.

But Joe Biden never did.

He’s always suffered from this problem of being wrong, and knowing it. This is why he lies so much about himself. It’s why he lied about his background and had to drop out of his first run for president in the 1988 race. It’s why, even to this day, he’s always creating stories out of whole cloth about his achievements — to make himself seem smarter and/or more heroic then he actually is. It’s why he’s always insisting he’s right, even when he’s demonstrably wrong, as on Afghanistan. Because, to admit he’s wrong would go to that severely insecure place that he’s never seemed able to conquer.

Unfortunately at the base of it all, he’s still that guy who’s been wrong about foreign policy for the last four decades, as Barack Obama’s Secretary of Defense Robert Gates said.

He’s the guy everyone made fun of until he had to be the Democratic standard bearer in 2020 for the Democrats to grab back power. This is how Politico described Biden in 2009, after he made comments that got the administration in trouble over the swine flu virus. “These sorts of comments are what the Obama administration fears from Biden, who after more than three decades in Washington is known for making gaffes.”

Since he came into office, Joe Biden has made horrible foreign policy decisions.

He’s given strength to Russia with his decision on the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, giving them a hold over the EU and hurting our own energy position in the world. He managed to offend France so deeply they pulled their ambassador — and he didn’t even know what was going on, according to his climate czar, John Kerry. His worst disaster so far — Afghanistan — cost 13 American service members and at least 170 Afghans their lives. He left Americans and Afghan allies there and lied that he would keep troops there to save them. They’re still there and he’s off on vacation in Delaware, not a care in the world.

Now, he’s made another decision that’s fraught with problems, just like his failure to pursue proper action in Afghanistan.

Biden has lifted sanctions on two Iranian entities, the Mammut Industrial group and its subsidiary Mammut Diese, involved in Iran’s missile program — sanctions that were put in place by the President Donald Trump to prevent Iran from being able to develop or use a nuclear weapon. Biden did this, just as they are believed to be developing enough nuclear fuel to build a bomb.

In a statement that seems typical of the Biden Administration’s to say the opposite of the truth, a spokesperson claimed that relieving the sanctions does “not reflect any change in U.S. government sanctions policy towards Iran.”

“They have nothing to do with JCPOA negotiation efforts,” the statement said. “The United States will continue to counter Iran’s destabilizing activities, including through implementation of our sanctions.”

The report noted that the Biden administration did not address whether the entities had stopped providing support for Iran’s missile program.

In other words, this has everything to do with the fact this is what Iran wants to re-activate the Iran Deal — that thing that provided us nothing, but that the Obama/Biden Administration debased themselves over and now Biden is desperate to put back in place.

This, despite the fact that Iran hasn’t complied with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reporting requirements, including allowing international inspectors to monitor its nuclear activities. Just like with Obama, Biden is willing to give them anything they want, without anything in return.

From Daily Wire:

Experts have warned that Iran is, if they haven’t already, dangerously close to having enough nuclear fuel to build a nuclear weapon.

Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett warned at a recent speech at the U.N. that Iran’s nuclear weapons program was “at a critical point.”

“All red lines have been crossed. Inspections — ignored. All wishful thinking — proven false,” Bennett said. “Iran is currently violating the IAEAs safeguard agreements — and it’s getting away with it. They harass inspectors and sabotage their investigations — and they’re getting away with it. They enrich Uranium to the level of 60 percent, which is only one step short of weapons-grade material — and they’re getting away with it.”

“Evidence which clearly proves Iran’s intentions for nuclear weapons in secret sites in Turquzabad, Teheran & Marivan — is ignored,” he continued. “Iran’s nuclear program has hit a watershed moment.

There are a lot of things you can be wrong about in foreign policy and survive. Nuclear weapons is not one of those things. But Biden is going all in on being wrong, once again.
