Former presidential candidate and representative from Hawaii Tulsi Gabbard is one Democrat who is willing to call out Joe Biden for his horrible policies.

Gabbard blasted Biden for saying he was going to make the Border Patrol agents “pay” over the false story claiming CBP agents had whipped Haitians who were entering illegally at the border in Del Rio, Texas.

“It was horrible what — to see, as you saw — to see people treated like they did,” Biden claimed. “Horses nearly running them over and people being strapped? It’s outrageous. I promise you, those people will pay. They will be — an investigation is underway now, and there will be consequences. There will be consequences. It’s an embarrassment. But beyond an embarrassment, it’s dangerous; it’s wrong,” he said. “It sends the wrong message around the world, it sends the wrong message at home. It’s simply not who we are.”

As we previously reported, the story was completely false. The Border Patrol says it didn’t happen. None of the pictures or video support it. Even the photographer who took pictures that many misinterpreted said he didn’t see anyone being whipped. But that didn’t stop Joe Biden.

Gabbard told Fox’s Jesse Watters that Biden was absolutely wrong and needed to “apologize to the American people” for saying what he said. Gabbard said that Biden was essentially acting like an autocrat, acting as “judge, jury, and executioner for these Customs and Border Patrol agents on horseback.”

How can they expect to have any kind of fair outcome to an investigation when the President of the United States has already declared their guilt and that they will be punished? And the bigger issue here that this points to, which is one that that we all need to be concerned about is that if we are no longer a country of laws, if we are no longer a country where we know we will be presumed innocent, unless proven guilty, then we don’t have a democracy. And that’s the increasing feeling that a lot of us have is that we are losing our democracy, and moving closer and closer to what essentially is an autocracy.

Absolutely terrific point that goes far beyond this particular case that Joe Biden lied about. What has made us special and unique as a country is our Constitution and the rule of law, not the rule of man or the party that has the most power at any given moment. Yet since the Obama-Biden administration, we’ve seen how far we have moved away from that. We’ve seen the problem on so many levels — from the scandals of the Obama administration never being prosecuted and Hillary Clinton not being prosecuted, to the Russia collusion hoax which was not only propagated by Hillary Clinton and the Democrats but then had the FBI going after President Donald Trump. Such actions tear at the very fabric of the country and the rule of law.

Watters actually raised the issue of the Russia collusion hoax, “We saw this kind of hoax, again, with Russia, when the Clinton campaign plants fake news about Trump and Russia, that lasted years, that was a hoax. This type of disinformation is so dangerous to the country, I feel like they got away with it so many times.”

Gabbard agreed with Watters.

The saddest part about this Jesse is you’re right; they are getting away with it and it’s the powerful elite, working with the media, working with the deep state, not acting in the best interest of the country. They’re acting in their own selfish interest to preserve their power, their position, or money, or whatever their selfish drive is. They are unwilling to sacrifice their interests for the interests of the country. And they have no business being in positions of leadership at any level in our society, because who suffers as a result of this? It’s the American people. It’s our democracy. And they don’t care about the cost. And the toll that that takes and this is why leadership that puts service above self, that puts the interests of the American people in our country first, is so critical and essential, especially now.

Fascinating that a Democrat would have that take. Of course, she’s freer now that she’s out of office to call it all out. But still good on her for doing so. Would that we had more Democrats — heck, even more Republicans — who got the point so well and were willing to fight for it.

Gabbard also skewered Biden over the weekend over his handling of the border in general, saying he needed to go back to the Trump policies that worked.
