As I reported yesterday, hammer thrower Gwen Berry who placed third at the Olympic trials in her event threw a hissy fit when the national anthem was played during her podium ceremony.

Here’s a picture of her snotty reaction to it – she turned her back when it was played. Then held up a black t-shirt saying “activist athlete” and draping it over her head.

Berry then threw a fit, suggesting that they were playing the anthem just to ‘disrespect’ her. “I feel like it was a set-up, and they did it on purpose,” Berry said. “I was pissed, to be honest… The anthem doesn’t speak for me. It never has.”

That prompted people to ask if she has such disrespect for our country, why does she want to compete for America in the Olympics? She made clear she only wants to promote her social justice agenda. In other words, more such displays. Some are reporting her as a BLM activist. So exactly why is the Olympic team sending her to Tokyo? Not to mention, why are you sending someone who’s so warped to think that they played the anthem just to annoy her? That’s twisted and psychologically off.

Berry was doing this for attention, but now she’s upset that it has drawn attention? She posted that tweet above that said “Stop playing with me” and then followed it up with this one, claiming people are obsessed with her.

Hey, if you don’t want the attention, then maybe you shouldn’t be asking for it?

Fox News’ Peter Doocy asked Jen Psaki what Joe Biden thought about what Berry had done. Her response was pathetic. She refused to condemn the action.

Biden is “incredibly proud to be an American and has great respect for the anthem and all that it represents, especially for our men and women serving in uniform all around the world,” Psaki claimed. “He would also say, of course, that part of that pride in our country means recognizing there are moments where we are, as a country, haven’t lived up to our highest ideals, and that means respecting the rights of people, granted to them in the Constitution, to peacefully protest.”

Now, first, we should note that Psaki isn’t even giving an original answer, she’s plagiarizing their prior answer to another similar incident.

You don’t have a right to compete in the Olympics, it’s a privilege. The Committee should pick people who will comport themselves with dignity and represent the country with honor. Rule 50 of the International Olympic Committee rules forbids political displays. She’s already indicated she might make more such displays in Tokyo.

But you have Biden basically backing her position, he/Jen Psaki didn’t even say ‘I disagree with her position even if she has the right to say it.’

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) responded:

‘Why does the Left hate America?

‘Sure, we have our faults, but no nation in the history of the world has liberated more people from captivity, has lifted more out of poverty, has bled more for freedom, or has blessed more w/ abundance. God bless America.

That’s the proper response and the one that Biden should have given. But the Biden team always embraces that which disparages America, rather than pointing to the things that have made us the greatest force for freedom in the world. This has hurt us in our dealings with the rest of the world. That unfortunately is what we have “leading” this country now.
