We’ve been bringing you the story of the media building that Israel leveled because the media were sharing it with Hamas. It’s become quite a saga all on its own.

As we wrote yesterday, the Jerusalem Post reported that the Israelis had shared the intelligence on Hamas being in the building with the U.S. and Biden officials.

Israel shared intelligence with the US showing how Hamas operated inside the same building with the Associated Press and Al-Jazeera in Gaza, officials in Jerusalem said on Sunday.

Officials in more than one government office confirmed that US President Joe Biden’s phone call to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday was, in part, about the bombing of the building, and that Israel showed Biden and American officials the intelligence behind the action.

“We showed them the smoking gun proving Hamas worked out of that building,” a source close to Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi said. “I understand they found the explanation satisfactory.”

But today, the AP (the same guys who are furious that they lost their office) are reporting that Sec. of State Antony Blinken is saying that he hasn’t seen the evidence.

So what’s the explanation for this seeming conflict? If you look deeper into their story, he’s not exactly saying it hasn’t been shown to the U.S.

Blinken also said he had asked Israel for any evidence for its claim that Hamas was operating in an Gaza office building housing The Associated Press and Al Jazeera news bureaus that was destroyed in an Israeli airstrike over the weekend. But he that he personally has “not seen any information provided.”

Oh. He’s saying he had not “personally” seen. Perhaps because the Israelis went directly to Biden in the phone call as was indicated in the Jerusalem Post report and/or it was passed between intelligence operations and he was cut out of the loop?

So is the AP playing word games here? And/or is the Biden team so incompetent that the right hand doesn’t know what the left hand is doing? In which case, Blinken shouldn’t be shooting his mouth off.

It serves Israel not at all to take out such a high-profile building unless Hamas was there and they have some of the best intelligence in the world. They’d have to not only think it, but believe it important enough to take the heat that taking out the media building would generate.

As we previously observed, AP reporter Matti Friedman detailed how the AP had ignored terrorist activity all around them in the past for a variety of reasons. Friedman said his sources were also indicating to him there was Hamas in the media building.

I take army statements like I take foreign press reports – with several grains of salt. But a conversation with a friend who is intimately familiar with military decision-making right now suggests there were indeed Hamas offices there.

I also wrote about how the Obama bros, Ben Rhodes and Tommy Vietor were upset that the building was hit. But Vietor wasn’t doubting that Hamas was in the building — in fact, he claimed he was told Hamas was in the building.

Not that we believe Obama bros, but if even they get it, there were seemingly a lot of people seeing it — except, apparently, Antony Blinken and the AP.
