One of the reasons that BLM has been allowed to flourish and scarf up corporate dollars has been because of the express endorsement they have received from the Democratic Party.

Despite the association with months of rioting, millions if not billions in damage, hundreds assaulted and people killed, Democrats still explicitly embraced the group during their August convention last year and have not criticized them by name, much less held them accountable publicly. They’ve spoken obliquely about condemning “violence,” but never put a name on that violence. Kamala Harris and 13 Biden campaign staffers even contributed to a bail fund for people arrested during the riots, as we noted.

So have Democrats learned anything or been truthful about BLM since then? Apparently not, from a new interview with Michelle Obama.

In the interview with CBS, Obama said that she feared for her daughters as they went about their daily activities.

“Many of us still live in fear as we go to the grocery store, or worry about our — walking our dogs, or allowing our children to get a license,” she said. [….]

“Every time they get in a car by themselves, I worry about what assumption is being made by somebody who doesn’t know everything about them,” Obama said. “The fact that they are good students and polite girls. But maybe they’re playin’ their music a little loud. Maybe somebody sees the back of their head and makes an assumption.” [….]

She added that those marching in support of Black Lives Matter are “takin’ to the streets because they have to.”

“They’re tryin’ to have people understand that — that we’re real folks,” Obama said. “And the fear that many have of so many of us is irrational. And it’s based on a history that is just — it’s sad, and it’s dark. And it’s time for us to move beyond that.”

So much that I could unpack there.

But I want to talk about how completely clueless she is about BLM. Or, if you will, how she wants to spin their actions.

No, BLM is not “takin’ to the streets because they have to” or “tryin’ to make people understand that we’re real folks.” I’m not sure what perception Michelle Obama has of America, but it seems desperately skewed. She apparently believes, or at least promotes this sense, that the American people are massively racist and need instruction just to understand that black people are real. Yet despite that, they elected her husband, twice, and made her First Lady. So something is amiss in her calculus.

But BLM aren’t about trying to make people understand that black people are real; they’re about pushing the radical leftist agenda and pushing the country as far left as they can. If they were actually about caring for black people, they would care about black lives more than agenda. They wouldn’t be precipitating riots in black neighborhoods and destroying homes, businesses, and people in the process. They’d care about the killing of David Dorn by rioters. They’d care about the killing of Secoriea Turner by protesters. Do they say their names? No, they only say the names of the people whose deaths they think they can exploit for their agenda. Even the parents of some of those folks, like the mother of Breonna Taylor and the mother of Tamir Rice, have spoken out about what they feel is the exploitation of the names and images of their children.

But Michelle Obama disregards all that. She disregards the radical nature of the group and the words of BLM leader Patrisse Cullors praising the comparison of her book to Mao’s Little Red Book. She disregards the stories about Cullors’ real estate binge or the concerns of the grass roots activists asking for transparency about where the money is going or how much is not being spent on consultants.

She talks about her daughters and their safety. But she’s literally supporting BLM, who want to defund the police, thus denying other people, including other black people, the vital police protection that they need for their own safety. Meanwhile, her daughters have all sorts of access to protection that regular folks are being denied.

It’s endorsements like this that are keeping BLM alive and contributing to the corporate donations. Obama is supporting the creation of chaos, but doesn’t seem to give a darn about it.
