This undated historical image courtesy of the Texas State Library and Archives Commission shows “The Alamo, San Antonio, Texas.” Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush is overseeing a 7-year, $450 million revamp of the Alamo, where 189 independence fighters were killed in 1836. That includes restoration of historical structures and building a new museum and visitors’ center. But some conservatives worry that the importance of the battle for the Alamo will be marginalized by “political correctness,” with the overhaul sanitizing less-desirable aspects of participants’ history, including that some were slaveholders. Stories were going viral on social media that rioters might be looking to mess with the Alamo.

But Texas land commissioner George P. Bush, the eldest son of former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, had a message for anyone who might have any such ideas: “Don’t mess with the Alamo.” He said that they were monitoring “social media posts and rumors from protesters who are threatening to come to The Alamo.”

The Alamo is perhaps one of the most well-known and beloved historical sites in Texas and threatening it in any way doesn’t tend to go over well with Texans, as Bush stated in a statement. He also said they would be deploying Alamo rangers, San Antonio police officers, the Dept. of Public Safety, and the National Guard to protect the “sacred” site.

From Daily Wire:

“The Alamo is the Shrine of Texas Liberty. And it will be defended. My office is closely watching the social media posts and rumors from protestors who are threatening to come to The Alamo.”

“Rest assured we have already deployed, for several weeks and will continue to do so, the Alamo Rangers in partnership with SAPD, The Department of Public Safety and The National Guard to protect this sacred site,” Bush continued. “My message to the protestors is simple: Don’t mess with The Alamo.”

Rioters have vandalized a variety of statues and monuments including those to WWII veterans and the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C, as well as a multitude of statues including of Christopher Columbus and Confederate statues in other areas of the country.

Thinking that if anyone did have a thought to take on the Alamo, just taking a look at that picture above would dissuade them.Pretty hard to mess with that level of protection. One would have to think that would be a pretty bad move and there isn’t enough soy in the world to help take that on.
