Good News: Cuomo Says NY Curve Is Flattening, They Haven't Lost Anyone Due to Lack of Equipment

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo speaks during a news conference alongside the National Guard at the Jacob Javits Center that will house a temporary hospital in response to the COVID-19 outbreak, Monday, March 23, 2020, in New York. New York City hospitals are just 10 days from running out of “really basic supplies,” Mayor Bill de Blasio said late Sunday. De Blasio has called upon the federal government to boost the city’s quickly dwindling supply of protective equipment. The city also faces a potentially deadly dearth of ventilators to treat those infected by the coronavirus. (AP Photo/John Minchillo)

One of the narratives being pushed by some on the left is that there is a lack of PPEs and equipment for hospitals and that’s putting people at risk. That narrative is more about trying to attack President Donald Trump than anything else.

But Trump has been doing everything he can, even invoking the Defense Production Act to lean on a 3M to get masks made faster, and Cuomo has given him credit for it.

If there were any place you would think that would be short of supplies or equipment, it would be in the current epicenter, New York. But as Cuomo explained in important remarks, they haven’t lost anyone for want of equipment.

That’s great news. He did say he still would like more ventilators.

As we reported earlier, New York has also been doing clinical trials for hydroxychloroquine and Cuomo said there were some “anecdotal” reports that it was effective.

More good news is that New York’s curve has been flattening over the past few days.

From CBS:

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said Monday that there are signs the hard-hit state is reaching the apex as the number of people who died from coronavirus has remained flat for the second day in a row. New hospitalizations are also down, as well as ICU admissions, he said.

All these signs suggest a “possible flattening of the curve,” he said.

Since NY is the epicenter, that’s great news for the rest of the country as well.

Sounds like Cuomo blew up a lot of narratives today. More indication that there may be a “light at the end of the tunnel” coming on the virus.
