The meltdowns of the more moderate Democrats and the Never Trump Republicans have been interesting to watch in the wake of Sen. Bernie Sanders’ blow-out victory in Nevada.

While we’ve noted that some of the principled conservatives have lost their minds and are now going to support Sanders, or are just reduced to calling Trump names, Democratic strategist James Carville is refusing to go there and trying to beat some sense into the Democrats before they commit, as he terms it, “political suicide.”

First, Carville beat up on the Democrats for not being able to run a caucus, but admitted that now Bernie was the front runner.

Some Democrats are trying to come to grips with it or arguing that if Sanders is nominated he could bring people in.

Carville says stop being in denial, that Sanders has a cap on electability and it’s not going to happen for him. And he’s upset that media isn’t doing their job of inculcating the electorate as to the dangers of voting for Sanders.

From Mediaite:

“The entire theory that by expanding the electorate, increasing turnouts, you can win elections, is the equivalent of climate denying. When people say that, they are as stupid to a political scientist as a climate denier is to an atmospheric scientist,” he said. [….]

But, he said, “If you’re voting for him because you think he’ll win the election, because he’ll galvanize heretofore sleepy parts of an electorate, then politically, you’re a fool.”

“And that’s just a fact,” Carville continued. “It’s no denying it, there’s so much political science, so much research on this that it’s not even a debatable question. And if people are appraised of this, and they know that, and they want to do it as Democrats, that’s their own business. But I don’t think they have all the facts that they need before they make this judgment going forward.”

MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace queried Carville was “describing a lot what sounds like political suicide?” Carville acknowledged that’s exactly what it was. “It is,” he replied.

Carville did slide over into conspiracy land over the latest media reports about Russia wanting to help Trump and Sanders win, saying Putin was the happiest about Sanders winning, according to the Daily Wire.

“The happiest person right now is Vladimir Putin,” Carville said Saturday in an interview during the Nevada caucuses, which Sanders won handily, by a nearly two-to-one margin.

“I don’t think Sanders wants Putin to help,” Carville continued, reassuring MSNBC hosts that he didn’t believe the Vermont socialist was in direct communication with the Kremlin, the way many Democrats suspected the Trump campaign was (it later turned out, of course, that while Russia made some overtures to high-profile Trump officials, there was no collaboration).

“I think they don’t like this story. But the story is a fact,” Carville continued. “This thing is going very well for Vladimir Putin. I promise you. He’s probably staying up watching this right now. How you doing, Vlad?”

He then concluded by noting that electing Sanders was a “straight line” to a Trump victory in November.

Gotta love the left eats left. But while he’s shopping the conspiracy to hurt Bernie and Trump, he is right if they think that Bernie is going to bring in people in a general election. The only question would be how many Democrats he would lose and how many would rationalize a vote for him. It wouldn’t be new people coming in when they desperately will need to be fighting for more votes.
