Donald Trump by now has made many policy speeches blasting the choices of Barack Obama and his administration. Of course, the slogan of “Make America Great Again” implies America isn’t great with Obama in the White House.
But does America agree with him?
So far, the polling says to me that Americans would rather side with Obama than Trump, if Trump is going to make racist comments. Trump took his first polling lead just before he made his infamous “Mexican judge” remarks, and then defended those remarks. Since then, it’s been all Hillary Clinton:
Meanwhile, as Trump has caused Americans to distance themselves from him, they’re rallying around the President, sending him to 50+ polling he hasn’t seen in years:
We’d already noted when Obama crossed over 50 for the first time since early in his second term. But now he rattled off three straight polls at 50, sending him to a solid +5 in favorability. Contrast that with Trump’s -22 in the latest CNN poll. -22 suggests Americans just don’t like him. No wonder he went to Scotland to invest overseas!
