While Pennsylvania Democrat Senator John Fetterman isn't a man without a country, he is a principled politician, seemingly stuck between two parties. And while the hoodie-wearing senator isn't afraid to buck his party's various left-wing narratives, he also insists he's not going to switch parties and become a Republican.
Either way, the outspoken Pennsylvanian continues to drive the Democrat Party crazy:
Fetterman told reporters he would back Republicans in using the "nuclear option" to eliminate the Senate filibuster in order to pass legislation to reopen the government.
Fetterman warned that the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is nearing the end of its financial stability, and his constituents "need to eat" as the government shutdown now enters its fourth week.
The shutdown reached its 20th day on Monday, making it the longest full shutdown in history. On Monday evening, the Senate failed once again to pass a continuing resolution that had cleared the House of Representatives.
Meanwhile, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) continues to hold the federal government — indeed, the entire country — hostage.

As is usually the case with Fetterman, he spoke openly and clearly about the shutdown, in terms with which everyday Americans can identify, in contrast to Democrat double-speak, disingenuous, bald-faced lies, and continuing word salads from former Vice President Kamala Harris:
There are no winners here. It’s not getting better every day here. People are going to start to get really hungry, and I’ve been fully, fully committed to fund SNAP. This is just bad political theater. Open it up.
When asked if he would support Republican lawmakers who are calling for “nuking” the filibuster — foregoing the 60-vote threshold Senate "super majority" and instead forcing a simple-majority vote on a House-passed funding measure, Fetterman was just as straightforward:
Carve it out, absolutely. We ran on that — we ran on killing the filibuster, and now we love it. Carve it out so we can move on. I support it because it makes it more difficult to shut the government down in the future, and that's where it's entirely appropriate.
"I don't want to hear any Democrat clutching their pearls about the filibuster," Fetterman added. "We all ran on it."
Of course they did. But, as anyone who pays a modicum of attention to the machinations of the Democrat Party knows, Democrats change positions with the blink of an eye — for or against narratives and issues they believe they can best use or manipulate to exploit low-information Democrat voters and leftist elitists.
Fetterman had previously warned of the effects of the Schumer Shutdown on SNAP (formerly food stamps) in an X post:
Food insecurity is real for many Pennsylvania families. It's one of many reasons why I could never vote for shutting our government down.
Lo and behold, a principled Democrat — as oxymoronic as it sounds.
Note: The Schumer Shutdown continues. Rather than put the American people first, Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats forced a government shutdown over healthcare for illegals.
