We’re well aware that when Joe Biden‘s lips are moving, he’s either lying, mumbling incoherently, or both. We also know that liberals are champs at twisting words and phrases into impossible pretzels, but Biden Senior Economic Advisor Gene Sperling’s latest effort is worthy of the Democrat BS Hall of Fame.
Sperling sat down with Fox News Host Martha McCallum on Wednesday and threw more crap against the wall than I’ve seen in a while. And like you, I’ve seen a lot of it. Here’s a preview of the entire insane interview, beginning with McCallum’s correct assumption:
Some of [Biden’s] critics are saying that millions of those jobs [created] are just jobs where people went back to the same job after COVID and that actual job creation is much smaller than that, says the Bureau of Labor Statistics. They say only 214,000 manufacturing jobs and 2.7 million overall jobs if you’re talking about jobs that were created.
Here’s Sperling’s farcical response:
Well, that’s not the standard for how we measure jobs created.
No, really. We’ll get into the whole nonsense of government job creation, later, but the above jibberish is representative of the entire exchange, so buckle your seatbelt and prepare to suspend disbelief.
Sperling went on to ‘splain:
When presidents inherit a downturn, you want them to have jobs created to come back. So yes, there’s no disagreement on this. All of the jobs that were lost — not the same jobs, but all of the 10 million jobs, about 10 million — have come back, but there’s [sic] about 2.7 million additional jobs beyond that. So there doesn’t need to be a debate about this; it’s 12.1 jobs that were created under his watch, and that represents a historic comeback.
Hold the bus. First, after claiming “that’s not how we measure jobs created,” Sperling agreed exactly with the numbers McCallum cited, confirming her argument. Second, Sperling then repeated the nonsensical claim that 12.1 jobs have been created under Biden’s watch. Which is it, Mr. Sperling?
Finally, and this applies to any president in either party who claims his administration created jobs, and they all do it: The federal government doesn’t create a single job (other than within the ever-expanding federal government, that is). Actions and non-actions by Congress and presidents can lead to economic conditions that make it more or less favorable for job creation in the private sector — and jobs lost, as well. Through two years of Bidenomics, Bidenflation, and other Biden crises, it takes brass— never mind.
As reported by Breitbart, Sperling, also the White House American Rescue Plan Coordinator (ARP), attempted to spin the bejesus out of Biden’s laughingly misnomered $1.9 trillion monstrosity, hilariously arguing that the ARP reduced the deficit, while incredibly claiming that because “we did not need another major, multibillion-dollar COVID package” was part of the reason the deficit “declined.” We never needed any major COVID package in the first place, Mr. Sperling, but I digress.
Anyway, do Democrats think you’re stupid, gang? Of course, they don’t. Moreover, they don’t give a damn what you think, one way or the other. But they do think, and very much give a damn about, is lying to low-information Democrat voters who buy every crock-of-crap lie they peddle, no questions asked. Here’s Sperling:
It’s still been a year of coming back from COVID. You have global inflation. Our inflation is coming down. It’s only about 2 percent the last six months, but it’s still too high and people see some key food prices [as] high. And gas prices have come down almost $1.70, but people might like them to be a little lower, and so we understand.
I think there [are] different polls that show different things, but we understand people’s frustration. What I disagree with you about is people’s support of the president’s proposals. The American Rescue Plan is why growth surged, it’s why revenue surged and deficits came down.
Where does one begin with that?
I’ll respond to just a couple of Sperling’s absurd “observations.” For anyone named Biden or a member of the Biden administration to brag about inflation or gas prices coming down is to ask tens of millions of hardworking Americans to suddenly develop amnesia, and have no recollection of how high inflation and pump prices soared, and under who’s administration — and why.
And the silliness about people seeing grocery store prices skyrocketing as we speak? Who says that? Other than elitist liberals, I mean?
Finally, Sperling offered this beauty:
When he came into office, the deficit was at 3.3 trillion. Because the American Rescue Plan worked, because growth came back fast, because revenue surged, because we did not need another major, multibillion-dollar COVID package, deficits have now come down 1.7 trillion.
“Check, please. I’m outta here.”
Here’s the entire ridiculous segment. “Enjoy.”
