Skyrocketing Prices Be Damned: California Cities Ban New Gas Stations to Fight 'Climate Change'

You gotta hand it to California. Other than the not-so-Golden State’s maniacal drive to import as many illegal aliens as they can, then provide said illegals with as many “free” benefits —  funded by California taxpayers, of course — as possible, Cali’s dogged perseverance in its Don Quixotesque fight against “climate change” is a sight to behold. A foolish-as-hell sight, but a sight just the same.

Anyway, let’s do a “hypothetical” problem-solving exercise.

Here’s the scenario: Gas prices at the pump have continued to skyrocket throughout Joe Biden’s presidency. Joe hilariously first tried to blame Russia’s Vladimir Putin for runaway prices, then even more hysterically tried to pass the buck to the Republican Party, but I digress.

Now assume your state has among the highest pump prices in the country, with the average price for regular gas in excess of six bucks. Just for grins, toss in the fact that your state also has the second-highest state gas tax rate in the country at $.0539 per gallon, barely second to Pennsylvania. Your citizens are screaming “Do something!” as their finances and lifestyles are strained by the out-of-control pieces.

The question: What do you do?

The answer: If you’re a growing number of cities in California, you ban new gas stations as part of your heroic battle against “climate change” — AKA: “The existential threat of mankind.”

How did California’s latest display of madness begin? As reported by The Los Angeles Times on Monday, municipal leaders of a small Sonoma County city —  without realizing they were starting yet another “green energy” movement —first began to question the approval process for a new gas station; eventually halting its development and all others in the future. If that doesn’t spell not-so-golden, what does?

Petaluma, California, Councilwoman D’Lynda Fischer, who led the 2021 charge to prohibit new gas stations in the city of 60,000, was absolutely clueless in her explanation of what the hell happened and why.

We didn’t know what we were doing, actually.  We didn’t know we were the first in the world when we banned gas stations.

Well, duh.

I mean, it’s not like this was the first time a group of clueless Democrats jumped all over an idiotic idea like a blind squirrel on an acorn, in search of an equally-idiotic cause, only to later be smacked by reality.

As reported by Bloomberg in May, California’s $19 billion carbon market initiative has failed to curb carbon emissions as envisioned by officials, showing little if any direct impact on greenhouse gases. But, hey; on Planet Looney Tunes, it’s not about results; it’s about intent. Foolish or otherwise.

Nonetheless, as noted by the Times, since Petaluma’s decision, four other cities in the Bay Area have followed suit, and now, leaders in Southern California — the state’s most car-centric metropolis — are hoping to adopt the “climate-conscious” (lunatic) policy.

Incidentally, just weeks after Californians, in 2020, suffered rolling blackouts due to a lack of wind and solar power, California’s nutjob governor, Gavin Newsom, announced that the state would ban the sale of gas-powered vehicles in 2035 in favor of electric vehicles alone.

What could possibly go wrong?

Then again, anything to stop the existential threat to mankind in its pretend tracks.
