He Just Can't Help Himself, Bless His Heart: Chris Wallace Defends 'Dr.' Jill Biden; Nobody 'Made a Fuss' About Calling MLK 'Doctor'

There he goes again.

While there are certainly far more important issues facing America in the aftermath of the 2020 presidential election, “Doctorgate” — the raging debate over Jill Biden’s ridiculous insistence on being called “Dr.” Jill Biden —continues, unabated.

“Shockingly,” “Fox News Sunday” host Chris Wallace waded into that debate on Sunday during an interview with presumptive president-to-be Joe Biden’s pick for White House press secretary, the equal-parts whiner, and weasel, Jen Psaki.

As I’m sure you remember, during the first presidential debate, Wallace, as moderator, might as well have just sidled up next to Joe Biden and thrown rocks at Donald Trump throughout. It wasn’t that Wallace, because of where he works, was expected to favor Trump — but he sure has as hell wasn’t supposed to carry Biden’s water, which is exactly what he did; and smugly defended doing, post-debate, as he was roundly criticized by Trump supporters for having coddled the addled old Democrat.

Anyway, back to the pretend doctor.

Not only did Wallace raise the touchy issue (“touchy” to Democrats and everybody named “Dr.” Jill Biden, that is) with Psaki, he also took a not-so-veiled shot at his Fox News colleagues, perhaps to demonstrate his Democrat chops to Psaki, lest she had any doubt about his “credentials.”

“There has been some criticism recently from conservatives, including some conservatives on Fox News, about the fact that first lady-to-be Jill Biden goes by the title ‘doctor.’

“I wonder, what is the Bidens’ reaction to that, especially given the fact that so many people over the years — I think of Dr. Henry Kissinger, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King — have gone by the title doctor even though they’re not medical doctors and nobody seems to have made a fuss about that.”

Outstanding job of setting the table for Psaki, Chris.

Special, ain’t he? Bless his heart. Mike Wallace surely would have been proud of his boy for setting the table for Psaki, as opposed to going with something like this:

“As you know, Jill Biden has been criticized in some corners over her insistence at being called Doctor Jill Biden. Author Joseph Epstein and others, including several prominent Ph.Ds have argued that her title, Ed.D, and the honorific “doctor,” are generally only used within the academic setting or area of expertise. Why is Jill Biden so insistent on being called “Doctor”?

Oh — wait — Wallace would have sounded too much like a journalist if he would’ve asked that question. Never mind.

Psaki, of course, not only agreed with her Democrat colleague. “That’s exactly right, Chris,” she responded. nicely teed up her answer.

“It’s a bit perplexing to me and I’m sure to millions of Americans that with thousands of people dying every day of COVID [everything can be tied to COVID, you know] and with millions out of work that anyone would wake up in the morning and decide that the focus they need to have, the way they contribute to society that day, is to question whether or not Dr. Jill Biden, someone who is still teaching, who has a Ph.D [wrong] in education, should be called a doctor or not.”

“Of course she should, as anyone who works through that challenging process of getting a Ph.D [nope, no Ph.D] It’s a really silly, sexist [nope], and absurd conversation that’s happening in society and I appreciate you asking me about it.”

Of course, you appreciated Wallace asking you about it, Ms. Psaki — almost as much as he appreciated “asking” you about it.

For the record, Jill Biden does not have a Ph.D. Rather, she received an Ed.D from the University of Delaware in 2007, after having allegedly told friends she didn’t like mail coming to the house addressed to “Mr. and Mrs. Joe Biden,” so she decided to pursue a doctorate, after which, mail to the Biden home would be addressed, “Dr. and Joe Biden.”

That is the silly part, Jen Psaki — and “Dr.” Jill.
