This was one of the better political speeches I have ever seen. And it wasn’t because it was delivered with soaring rhetoric or by a master showman; indeed, it was not. It was because it was delivered by a man who is clear eyed about the dangers facing America, well informed about the intricacies of policy both foreign and domestic, and willing to be brutally honest about the promises being made by both candidates right now.
We need more of this in the Republican party, and less cheap applause lines and easy pandering. We need more of politicians who care to do extensive research before forming their opinions, and then sticking with clarity to those opinions even if they are unpopular.
We were pleased to have him keynote our Gathering this year, and hope he comes back any time he can.
