President Trump is publicly lashing out at Attorney General Jeff Sessions on social media. Such behavior is nothing short of an embarrassment. Caleb Howe wrote about Trump’s demand for loyalty, no matter what. Susan Wright discussed how the White House campaign against Sessions will be non-stop.

While the barrage continues, many conservative groups, lawmakers, and leaders are coming to Jeff Sessions’ defense.

Senator Jim DeMint, Conservative Partnership Institute:

“Jeff Sessions is a trusted conservative leader and someone we know will defend the Constitution. I understand the President’s frustration with the endless media obsession over Russia. It’s as if the Democrats and liberal media are trying to overturn the election, they can’t come to grips with the fact that Americans voted against their failed liberal policies and voted them out of power. And I’m sure he’s frustrated just like the rest of us that Congress has dragged their feet on his freedom and jobs agenda. But pushing Jeff Sessions out won’t get Congress to move forward on his policies or stop liberals attacks, and Trump would lose a great ally and widely respected advocate for the rule of law.”

Tony Perkins, President of Family Research Council:

“Attorney General Jeff Sessions has in a very short time restored the Justice Department’s reputation as one that upholds the law — not circumvents or undermines it.  He has ushered in a new era at DOJ — one that cherishes the Constitution and its protection of our freedom from government oppression. If there’s one thing we know about the Attorney General, it’s that he understands the importance of all of our God-given rights, respects the law, and is making tremendous progress to restore our nation to greatness.  As a former law enforcement officer, I am very encouraged that he is following through on his commitments to the law enforcement community. Jeff Sessions is doing what he promised in his confirmation hearings — a refreshing and welcome change for all Americans.”

In a Facebook post:

“As someone who has worked with Attorney General Sessions most recently on President Trump’s transition team, I cannot speak highly enough about General Sessions credentials and integrity as the nation’s top law enforcement officer or about his loyalty to President Trump.

“General Sessions inherited one of the most partisan, abusive Justice Department’s in American history.  In just under eight months, he has redirected the Department into the crime fighting, rule of law first institution it was established to be.

“General Sessions policies are keeping America safe, just as the President promised the American people his Administration would do.  Under his leadership, the DOJ has followed the law and put in place policies to crack down on illegal immigration and sanctuary cities.   Additionally, General Sessions and the DOJ are coming down hard on violent criminals ravaging our cities, and on gangs that are infiltrating communities across America.  General Sessions is both keeping America safe and helping the President keep his campaign promises; he is a huge asset to this Administration.”

Statement from National Sheriffs’ Association CEO and Executive Director Jonathan Thompson

“On behalf of more than 3000 elected Sheriff’s in this country we affirm today our support for Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

Sheriffs have meet with the attorney general many times on sanctuary cities and detainer policy, immigration and border control, the opioid epidemic, surplus military equipment for law enforcement use, along with many other issues.  It is precisely his listening and responsiveness that continues to reinforce our support for Attorney General Sessions.

We have complete confidence in Attorney General Sessions.  Attorney General Sessions has restored law enforcement’s trust in the federal government and we applaud his efforts to back the men and women in law enforcement. “

Jenny Beth Martin, Co-Founder Tea Party Patriots

“Tea Party Patriots and our network of grassroots supporters around the country know that we can count on Attorney General Jeff Sessions to stand with us on the issues that matter most. He has been one of the strongest and most consistent allies we have and can think of no better person to serve as President Trump’s Attorney General. Jeff Sessions has stood with Tea Party Patriots against the lawlessness of the Obama Administration when they refused to enforce our immigration laws. We are confident that AG Sessions will continue to uphold the rule of law and ensure all of our laws are enforced.”

Rosemary Jenks, Director of Government Relations, NumbersUSA

“Attorney General Sessions has proven beyond any doubt his commitment to enforcing the law, and particularly the immigration laws that have been neglected for decades to the detriment of American workers.  He has spent his entire career standing up for working-class Americans and the rule of law.  There is no one more dedicated to President Trump’s agenda of making America safe again, and there is no better choice for our top law enforcement officer, than AG Sessions.”

Thom Tillis, United States Senator from North Carolina and member of the Senate Judiciary Committee

In a press release:

“While some may argue that he should not have recused himself from the Russia investigation, Attorney General Sessions demonstrated good judgment by doing so and removed all appearances of a potential conflict. The Attorney General’s recusal was ultimately made in the best interests of the Department of Justice and the country.

“Following eight years of organizational and accountability issues plaguing the Department of Justice, Attorney General Sessions’ leadership is needed now more than ever.”

Senator Ted Cruz, in his response about being possibly considered to replace AG Jeff Sessions, also spoke highly of him.
