“The Chosen: The Last Supper” dropped an intense trailer for Season 5, and it has been revealed that the faith-based series, which tells the story of Jesus through those close to him, will premiere on Amazon Prime in June.

Season 5 takes place during Holy Week, centering on Jesus' showdown with Pharisees at the Temple of Jerusalem and the betrayal of one of his disciples, Judas (played by Luke Dimyan), which will lead to his crucifixion.

“My house should be a house of prayer, but you make it a den of thieves!” Jesus (played by Jonathan Roumie) yells in the two-minute-plus clip.

When questioned by leaders, “By what authority are you doing these things?” The Messiah replied, “My own! You serpents! How will you escape being condemned to hell?

Roumie’s character also comes face to face with Judas in another part of the clip, with Dimyan's character asking him, “What have you done?”

“Season five follows Jesus’ triumph to treachery as his final days unfold in a story that changed the world, an official description read. “Welcomed as a king into Jerusalem, he boldly confronts the corrupt merchants, sparking a chain of events that shakes the city.”

“While religious leaders scramble to silence his growing influence, Jesus shares one last meal with his closest followers,” it added. ”But in the shadows, Judas makes a deal that seals both their fates. In a tale of power, faith and betrayal that echoes through time — one man’s ultimate sacrifice becomes humanity’s greatest story.”

The TV series has become a global phenomenon after it premiered originally in 2017 on the Angel Studios app. The first three seasons were available exclusively on the app and to stream for free, with a message about paying it forward with a crowdfunding approach to fund the series.

By Season 4, the production team decided to release it in theaters to give fans the full effect of the story and help fund the series, allowing them to provide it for free on the app later.

“The Chosen” then launched the 5&2 studio for the creation of the final seasons, with all eight episodes of Season 5 exclusively released in theaters through Fathom Events. It was incredibly successful with parts 1, 2, and 3 of Season 5 grossing $60 million at the global box office since it debuted March 26, the Hollywood Reporter reported.

“The Chosen” showrunner Dallas Jenkins recently shared an update about Season 6 and warned fans it will not be soon.

The upcoming season, which will deal entirely with the crucifixion, will be the second-to-last one, with season 7 being the end, per Collider.

“The process of getting these seasons to you at the cadence that we’ve been doing has been extraordinarily taxing on the team,” Jenkins said. “The quality control process has been much faster and tighter than most shows and movies. That’s caused a lot of pain, a lot of challenges…”

“The team that works on this is extraordinarily stretched thin, and so it’s just a very, very difficult process… They’ve been begging me to give a little bit more of a cushion,” he added. “And so we’re going to definitely be doing that for future seasons.”

“The Chosen: Last Supper” hits the streaming site on June 15.
