Maybe There Are Still Some Bright Conservative Lights Out There.

Conservatives haven’t had much to celebrate lately.

Political discussions are dominated by everything but the principles of limited government since Trump did his drunken, naked cannonball into the conservative family’s pool party.

Maybe there are some good things on the horizon. The conservative farm team may yet have some players that can enunciate something other than populist rants or  media tongue-lashings. A state delegate from Virginia, Nick Freitas has been getting some buzz on social media for actually speaking about conservative principles. Maybe conservatism is only taking a detour through Trumpville. One can hope.

Here are a couple of examples of the kind of thing Delegate Freitas is bringing to the Virginia State House. It’s refreshing to see that ideas like this are still part of politics somewhere.

Statist politicians are too easily convinced of their own brilliance when it comes to “managing the economy”. They don’t seem to realize that the economy is us. The economy is made up of people, and those who would try to manage the economy through government force will always do so by trying to control people. #MakeMarketsFreeAgain

When Identity Politics Collide…

I had an interesting discussion with one of my colleagues on the other side of the aisle concerning identity politics. Turns out you can only play so many games with the English language before it comes back to bite you.

This video shows my initial question as well as round two the following session.

Maybe we’ll see more of this in the future. Hopefully Freitas will keep his nose clean and have success fighting for the principles he explains so clearly.

If nothing else listening to this is a good palate cleanser.
