Between the VA Gerrymander Upset and Red State Redistricting, It's Looking Terrible for Democrats

With the Virginia Supreme Court's shutdown of the Democrat gerrymander, which attempted to create a 10-1 Democrat map, and the Tennessee legislature's resounding vote on Thursday to institute their redistricted maps that eliminated the sole Democrat district in the state, the prospects of Republicans holding their own for the November midterms get more and more positive.

Here's the current midterm projection breakdown, now that Virginians have been spared.

Alabama, Louisiana, and South Carolina are still at work on their redistricting plans. On Friday, the Alabama legislature is expected to vote to reinstitute maps that district courts have held hostage since 2021, and part of their voting will also involve instituting a winner-take-all primary, saving money and time on special elections. Suffice to say, the Democrats and the activists (but I repeat myself) are not happy.

I must say, as a Black Alabamian, this greatly irks me. We are 61 years past the Voting Rights Act of 1965. The U.S. Supreme Court has not gutted it, despite the leftist talking points. And the demographic and electoral landscape in 1965 is vastly different from that in 2026. I vote without fear, advocate to my representatives, and make my voice heard. We live under a Constitution that still allows for this, and it's high time all voters paid attention to it. No one is taking away voting rights. If these protesters wanted to wisely use their voting power, they would demand that their districts be ones where they could vote in representatives who improve where they live and reflect their values and stance on the issues. By many reports, the crop of representatives who are protesting against this redistricting currently do not.

But, I digress. The bottom line: Republicans are finally on offense, and Republican voters are cheering them on.

Missouri Senator Eric Schmitt (R) is spot on here.

Let's hope his fellow Republican electeds take note and enact even more plans to storm the gates. Because primaries are happening every month up to the November midterms, and we need fighters, not squishes. Indiana showed us this redistricting battle is a winnowing, and every primary from here on out needs to weed out Republicans who refuse to do what their constituents want, and make way for those who will.

Democrats are experiencing cognitive dissonance, failing to understand why their TDS-fueled rages are not yielding the results they want. Yet, they continue to refuse to face the reality that they did this to themselves, and continue to lie and gaslight.

Exhibit A, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries. My colleague Sister Toldjah made note of his tone deaf statement.

“Over three million Virginia citizens cast their votes in a free and fair election, yet the State Supreme Court has chosen to invalidate their voice, disenfranchise them and violate their due process rights. The decision to overturn an entire election is an unprecedented and undemocratic action that cannot stand.

MAGA Republicans have adopted voter suppression as a strategy, as also evidenced by far-right extremists on the Supreme Court gutting the Voting Rights Act to open the door to a Jim Crow-like attack on Black representation across the American South.

We are exploring all options to overturn this shocking decision. No matter what it takes, House Democrats will win in November so we can help rescue this nation from the extremism being unleashed by Donald Trump and Republicans.

Our fight is not over. We are just getting started.”

And Exhibit B, Gov. Gaslight himself, California's Gavin Newsom.

Says the man who engineered the Prop. 50 gerrymandering scam in his state, which is also unconstitutional. Fox News White House correspondent Bill Melugin said it best:

Republicans need to keep the fire in the belly, and Americans need to keep their feet to the fire to ensure the House and Senate remain in GOP hands. Not because Republicans are all that, but because Democrats are insane.

Editor’s Note: The 2026 Midterms will determine the fate of President Trump’s America First agenda. Republicans must maintain control of both chambers of Congress.
