A Former 'Worst' Illinois Mayor Is Running for a Georgia Commissioner Seat, and I Have Questions

It's clown world once again in Fulton County, Georgia, but amazingly enough, District Attorney Fani Willis is not involved. Who is involved is none other than Tiffany Henyard, the former Democrat mayor of Dolton, Illinois, and Supervisor of Thornton Township. Henyard held these elected positions simultaneously while she "lived large and in charge," and while driving the municipality into massive debt.

As RedState reported in 2024:

The mayor, Tiffany Henyard, has been termed the "worst mayor in America" by some and it's easy to see why, given some of what she has been accused.

Henyard has been accused of misdeeds ranging from weaponizing police in retaliatory business raids to spending taxpayer money on luxuries like traveling to Las Vegas. Last month, Mayor Henyard reportedly vetoed the board’s resolution to probe her spending over purported misuse of funds.

While the FBI has allegedly already begun to investigate Henyard for purportedly misusing her local police force, the board’s resolution had called for the FBI to do further investigation about her spending of the town’s money.

Despite this, Henyard had the unmitigated gall to run for reelection in the February 25, 2025, Illinois primary, where she lost resoundingly. With her controversial record and the odor of mendacity clinging to her like cheap perfume, one wonders why she even bothered.

But if you have ever heard Henyard speak, it is clear she exists in an alternate reality. Fast forward to 2026, and not only does she still live in that alternate reality, but in a different geographic location. But wait, there's more: Two days after she lost her reelection bid, Henyard registered in her newly domiciled state of Georgia as a Republican. Somewhere between February 2025 and January 2026, she received the blessing of the Fulton County Republican Party to run for a Fulton County Commissioner slot.

You truly cannot make this stuff up.

Ousted Dolton mayor Tiffany Henyard has apparently not lost her appetite for elected office despite a long list of grievances, bills and legal judgements left in her wake.

The democrat has qualified as a republican candidate for a seat on the Fulton County, Georgia, board of commissioners.

It comes as WGN Investigates has learned Henyard’s troubled time in Chicago’s south suburbs now also includes a new $10,000 judgement from a case filed by her former landlord.

Genetta Hull accused Henyard and her boyfriend of failing to pay rent for a home she lived in while serving as Dolton’s mayor.

Some in Georgia (obviously not the Republicans) are not taking this quietly, as there is some question about exactly when Henyard began residing in Georgia. So, the Fulton County Board of Registration and Elections called Henyard to a hearing on April 9, asking her to defend her residency. However, the Board failed to properly send Henyard a notice to appear at the correct email address, and they never bothered to follow up with a reminder call that she was required to appear. Like I said, Clown World.

The Fulton County Board of Registration and Elections admitted to this screw-up and were forced to reschedule the hearing for April 20:

Not letting any grass grow under her feet, Henyard is going into full-bore campaign mode for the County Commissioner's seat. She appeared Monday on NewsNation's Katie Pavlich Tonight to talk about why she changed parties. Pavlich asked the obvious question: with her troubled political background, why should Georgia voters trust her? Especially in light of this party shift.

Pavlich asked, "Have you changed your ways?"

Henyard responded:

Well, first I want to speak to the fact of why I'm running as a Republican. My values no longer align with the Democrat values. I'm all about faith, I'm all about God, I'm all about making sure you walk the tightrope as it relates to where you're going. And they will do anything — when I say anything — anything to win an election.

Including having a loyal foot soldier change parties and spout talking points. We weren't born yesterday, Tiffany.

She continued:

And I can't stand by that. I can't stand by the things that I've have seen within the party. So, I am okay with my change. And, like I said, change is difficult. But change is needed, though, in our communities. And I'm okay with aligning with the Republican Party because you guys represent what I represent: which is Faith, family, future, growth, economic, policy. That's so key to me. I care about those things, and yet the other people tearing us apart — TSA, for instance. Why would they gridlock the government? I am really, really big on stop they pay [sic]! Don't pay them, until they pay the people. The people gotta eat first, it's all about the people first. But they're playing politics...

Pavlich's next question could have been about whether Henyard had paid her former Illinois landlord, who was suing her, but she chose to dig deeper into what Henyard meant by: "they will do anything to win an election." Pavlich asked, "Who is they and what are you talking about?"

Henyard replied:

"They," meaning Democrat Party. [sic] And as everybody know [sic], I was once a Democrat. So, I know what it's like to be on the other side. And they will do anything to win their seats, and I can't stands for it. Prime example, uh, the caucus. In 2024. They sold an entire election in Illinois. Everybody saw it. The news was out there broadcasting, and no one did anything to change it or fix it. And now, people are seeing what's going on. And that's what I mean: Dictator, that's what they are.

Quite telling that Henyard was referred to as the "Dolton Dictator," but she used the same slur to describe the Democrat Party under whose banner she had no problem running as recently as 2025.

WATCH:

Henyard also appeared on Newsmax's The Other View with Katrina Szish, where Henyard described her campaign as "Project Phoenix." Sadly, that would have required Henyard's political career having been burned to ashes. From all appearances, she was barely singed.

Henyard spouted the same bromides she did on NewsNation, saying to Szish, "The Democrat Party is not holding up to their core values. They are losing their way, they have lost their way, and with that said, I'm no longer gonna be attached to the Democrat Party."

Carpetbaggers are legend in both parties, as are residency challenges. However, what is galling is that the Republican Party, which is striving to take the high ground on moral, ethical, and fiscal fronts, would allow this woman to run under their party banner.

Perhaps Henyard's eyes have been opened, and she now embraces "Republican values." She also claimed in the Newsmax interview that she moved down South to give her child a better life and to get away from the crime and high property taxes in Illinois. It was widely reported that Henyard's father was shot in Chicago in March. While he survived this shooting, Henyard was vocal about fellow Democrats, IL Gov. JB Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Johnson, being to blame for the crime. Henyard urged them to reconsider President Donald Trump's offer to send in the National Guard to address the violence in Chicago.

So, now Henyard is on the Trump Train. Great. My recommendation: go out and support other Republican candidates that are credible and way less compromised. If Henyard's tenure as Mayor of Dolton is evidence, she shouldn't be elected dog catcher, let alone a county commissioner.

Yet, here we are.

Editor’s Note: The 2026 Midterms will determine the fate of President Trump’s America First agenda. Republicans must maintain control of both chambers of Congress.
