Two members of the House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee decided to create more political theater over the Elon Musk/DOGE audit of the Department of the Treasury payments by crashing a private meeting between House Speaker Mike Johnson, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, and Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee Jason Smith (R-MO).
Three guesses which party?
You do the math.
A pair of House Democrats barged into House Speaker Mike Johnson’s office at the Capitol on Wednesday demanding answers on why Elon Musk’s government efficiency team has access to taxpayers’ data.
Reps. Judy Chu of California and Gwen Moore of Wisconsin barreled into the speaker’s office during a scheduled meeting with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and House Ways and Means Chair Jason Smith, Missouri Republican.
A person who witnessed the interaction told The Washington Times that “in the face of incredibly rude, extremely aggressive and frankly unhinged behavior, the speaker was more than gracious and allowed the members into his personal office to hear their concerns.”
Moore is the Maxine Waters of Wisconsin; she's been a representative of the primarily Black area of Milwaukee since 2004, and nobody seems to be able to unseat her. She commands loyalty, yet delivers not a whole lot in return. Moore's other claim to fame was during the COVID pandemic. She was supposed to be quarantined after testing positive, but with Rep. Nancy Pelosi's (D-CA) speakership in jeopardy, she was given special dispensation to travel from Wisconsin to D.C. to cast her vote for Pelosi as House Speaker. This, while you were locked in your house, your kids were forced onto ZOOM, and you could be put in jail for using your local park.
The congresswoman announced on Twitter on Dec. 28 that she had tested positive for COVID-19 while encouraging others to take safety measures to prevent its spread.
“I am following guidance from my doctor and am isolating from others. I am thankful to be feeling well. And I do not foresee this disrupting my work for Wisconsin’s Fourth,” she tweeted.
She continued: “I encourage every person to continue taking measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 by wearing a mask, washing your hands, and practicing social distancing.”
Three other members of the House – two Democrats and a Republican -- received special arrangements to vote after being exposed to the coronavirus, though they tested negative, Politico reported.
The arrangements included entering through a private entrance and voting from a plexiglass box set up above the gallery, used by Representative Tim Ryan of Ohio, Fox News reported.
"Theater," by any other name, still stinks to high heaven, but this seems to be what Moore is good for. That, and voting for every pro-abortion initiative and voting against forest management, protecting women sports against the infiltration of biological-male athletes, and against the Laken Riley Act. Yeah, she really cares about your "sensitive information," but doesn't seem to care as much about criminal illegals having the ability to roam freely throughout the United States and target you for violence.
Rep. Judy Chu (D-CA) saw her colleague Moore post on X that she planned to crash the private meeting between House Speaker Mike Johnson and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. So, being equally starved for attention, Chu decided it was time for her 15 minutes.
Great idea, @RepGwenMoore! I’m on my way to demand answers for the American people. https://t.co/wojPFUH0dk

The lawmakers said their main focus was to find out why Mr. Musk and his associates at the Department of Government Efficiency were able to gain access to the federal payment system at the Treasury Department, which has drawn sharp criticism and questions of its legality from congressional Democrats.
Sure, Jan. They timed it for maximum video exposure and minimal damage. Moore got a CNN appearance out of it.
Today I confronted Speaker Johnson over Elon Musk's hostile takeover of the federal government because the American people deserve answers about how their private data is being used.

Mr. Bessent had already left by the time the Democratic lawmakers got their impromptu meeting with the speaker, the Democrats said later. Ms. Moore said that their main goal was to find out why Mr. Musk and his associates had access to sensitive taxpayer data.
“[Speaker Johnson] said he was trying to find out,” Ms. Moore said. “So I said ’that that was very stressful to me, that even you don’t know, and you’re the Speaker of the House then you have no idea what is happening.’”
Oh, the House Speaker does; but he's not about to disclose anything to you. That's why he's Speaker, and you're not. Another telling fact about Chu: She had no interest in protecting Donald Trump when he would not release his tax returns.
Tonight, I joined my Democratic colleagues on @WaysMeansCmte to make former President Trump’s tax returns public. The President is no average taxpayer, and the power of the office demands transparency. pic.twitter.com/Sp0M0bkdYp

Transparency changes definition dependent upon who the person is and what is being revealed. Another reason that Chu is highly motivated to get Musk and his team out of the Treasury Department is that she is one of California's representatives with close ties to the Chinese Communist Party.
California Democrat Rep. Judy Chu (Zhao Meixin) plays a critical facilitator role in executing the agenda of Pro-Chinese Communist Party Chinese-American organizations.

On his former Fox News show in 2023, Tucker Carlson called out Chu for her ties, which were documented exclusively by The Daily Caller.

Ying Ma: "Nobody should be able to cry racism in order to circumvent legitimate scrutiny — like very troubling ties to Communist China." pic.twitter.com/KEbxko07wK
Rep. Lance Goodwin (R-TX) was rebuked for his assertion and Chu was able to make great hay out of it, claiming racism and xenophobia. But as Ying Ma wisely asserted, these are Chu's default position when challenged.
Ma noted that Chu opposed a bipartisan select committee on China that counters CCP threats, and called Chu’s politics “poisonous.”
“When people do this kind of race-baiting, they’re not even telling the truth. Judy Chu claims that whenever you criticize China this way you’re fanning anti-Asian violence and anti-Asian sentiments, but she’s the last person who will tell you that many of these very gruesome, physical attacks we’ve seen against Asians in this country are perpetrated by non-whites, not by white supremacists,” Ma said. “These are people who are reluctant to say that all they want to say is that Trump is at fault and Republicans are at fault.”
Rinse. Repeat. So, Musk and DOGE need to keep digging, because there are probably some inconvenient payments that point directly to Judy Chu and her cozy relationships with CCP officials.
They raised concerns about the level of access Mr. Musk’s associates had, and what exactly they planned to do with the information, and warned that “all the data could have… been downloaded and put on thumb drives.”
Actually, much of it is now on USASpending.gov, because transparency, and all that. Chu is a special piece of work. If you recall last week, on President Trump's visit to California, she was part of that roundtable of local elected officials, and like the majority of the Democrats, didn't know her hind end from her elbow. Trump rightly put her in her place.
At @POTUS's briefing in the Pacific Palisades, I urged him to visit Altadena & Pasadena to see the working class areas devastated by the Eaton Fire.

Despite their rudeness and the stunning lack of protocol, Johnson graciously begged them off, saying that the House Ways and Means Committee would get a chance for oversight, perhaps in the next week.
“But next week this… could be seven days from now, how much could be stolen in that period of time, I think, a lot,” Ms. Chu said.
Cry more, Judy.
