The next phase of Brave Books’ Freedom Island Tour is underway, and actor and author Kirk Cameron has written a new book with the conservative publisher to kick it off. Pride Comes Before the Fall continues the Saga series with Tiger Valor and his partner Kevin, who must learn a lesson in humility.

“The main characters have to learn the message of humility and parents love it, of course,” Cameron said.

“You have a country that is so soaked in Pride-fullness, that they want their kids to learn the importance of thinking of others first. Of humility and kindness.”

Cameron’s first Brave Book, As You Grow, focused on the virtues of love, joy, peace, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—what the Bible calls The Fruit of the Spirit. It became a lightning rod of controversy when Cameron attempted to read his book in school libraries that welcomed Drag Queen story hours and he was refused. Cameron soon found favorable libraries willing to hear an alternate message grounded in conservative and godly principles, thus The Freedom Island Book Tour was born. Cameron has appeared with other Brave Book authors like John Solomon

This latest leg of the tour began in Indianapolis and moved on to New York, Savannah, Georgia, Los Angeles, Nashville, and Charlotte, North Carolina at the Billy Graham Library.

This second book, whose release date is June 1—the first day of LGBTQ Pride Month—flies counter to the culture of self-aggrandizement and the efforts to replace traditional norms. On May 13, Cameron gave a teaser for Pride at the Billy Graham Library event and premiered it at the Seattle Public Library during Memorial Day Weekend.

I had the opportunity to sit down with Kirk Cameron during his busy tour schedule, where he discussed the content of his latest book.

We have just left the month of May, commemorating Memorial Day, and honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. As we enter June, LGBTQ Pride is in our faces: being trumpeted, celebrated, and applauded by many in our society. Jesus said, “Greater love has no man than this; that he lay down his life for his friends.” Pride Month doesn’t encourage you to lay down your own life. It demands that you not only acknowledge the existence of LGBTQ+ lives but bow to its agenda – to mock and destroy other lives and lifestyles… or else.

There’s something not quite right here, and as the conservative pushback against Bud Light and Target shows, many feel the same.

Cameron talks about how Pride, rather than humility, can tear down the foundation of relationships. He also discussed his own struggle with pride and the lessons he learned.

Despite transgender and other activists’ attempts to disrupt the Freedom Island Tour, it has been wildly successful, with lines out the door to hear Cameron and other authors read from their Brave novels.

“The tour has been very successful. People are coming out in the thousands and we expect that to be the case this Saturday where we will be at the Seattle Public Library.”

According to our sister site PJ Media, Saturday’s Seattle book reading was a huge success, despite local efforts to get Cameron canceled. As reported, the tour went on with more people in attendance listening to Cameron read Pride Comes Before the Fall, than outside protesting its presence. Cameron was joined by Coach Joe Kennedy who told his story of fighting for the right to pray before football games. Washington State’s Bremerton High School fired the coach for praying at the 50-yard line after each game. In a landmark ruling in June 2022, the Supreme Court cited that Kennedy being allowed to pray was a First Amendment right, and Kennedy’s rights had been violated. Kennedy has since been reinstated as the coach.

The Freedom Island Tour is on its way to Houston, and Cameron teased a special, nationwide event in the works.

“After Seattle, we’ll be in Houston, Texas, and after that we have a very exciting event that we’ll be announcing on August 12. And this is going to be a nationwide event and it’s going to be much larger than anything we’ve done in the past.”

Cameron was mum about the other details, but if it involves him and Brave Books, you know it’s going to be good, and good for the kids.

Stay tuned.
