I hope everyone had a Happy Valentine’s Day! I could not care less if it’s a commercialized, Hallmark and candy company hijacked holiday, anything that reminds us to love, and embrace the people that we love (or should be loving) is good with me!

Which brings to my mind some of the powerhouse, conservative couples I admire. The love these couples have for each other is evident, only matched by their love for the country and conservative values. These couples use their partnership powers to ensure our country and those values stay alive and thrive.

Some of these couples are elected officials, while others are entertainment and media personalities. All have been pivotal to the conservative cause, and I am grateful that they are on our side in the fight.

First up, from the great State of Florida.

Casey DeSantis was a PGA Tour host and anchor before she married Ron DeSantis. Now she serves the State of Florida as first lady, alongside her governor husband.

It was during that PGA Tour career that Casey met Ron, on a driving range at the University of North Florida. Casey said she was looking for a bucket of golf balls behind her, and happened to see Ron DeSantis over her shoulder. Ron thought Casey was checking him out. Whatever the signals, the couple started a conversation, which started a relationship. They married in 2010, after Ron was discharged from the military, and have been married for 12 years with three children: Madison, Mason, and Mamie.

The DeSantis’ recently faced a health hurdle with Casey’s breast cancer diagnosis and treatment.

“I am saddened to report that Florida’s esteemed First Lady and my beloved wife has been diagnosed with breast cancer,” he said.

“As the mother of three young children, Casey is the centerpiece of our family and has made an impact on the lives of countless Floridians through her initiatives as First Lady.

“As she faces the most difficult test of her life, she will have not only have my unwavering support but the support of our entire family, as well as the prayers and well wishes from Floridians across our state. Casey is a true fighter, and she will never, never, never give up,” said DeSantis.

But the DeSantis’ are both fighters. Casey completed her chemotherapy at the end of January, and Governor DeSantis, motivated by this personal experience, wants to boost Florida’s funding for cancer research by 60 percent. This is just one example how these two embody leadership through not just words, but action.

Lt. Gov. Winsome Sears and Terence Sears

Not much is documented about how Terence and Winsome Sears met, but they were young adults when they married, and have been together for decades. The couple have the connection of being Marines, as well as their strong, Christian faith. Terence and Winsome started Shenandoah Appliance Plumbing & Electric, which Terence still heads. Winsome Sears has been in politics since 2002, and Terence seems happy to be a supportive partner behind the life force that is Virginia’s first Black, female Lieutenant Governor.

They have three daughters, Katia E, Janel C, and DeJon. According to Wikibious, DeJon, the oldest daughter, died tragically in a car accident.

When you navigate through years of marriage, political cage matches, and personal tragedy, it gives you a weight and gravitas like nothing else can. My hope is that this couple will continue to be a weighty influence in our nation’s life and politics.

Tom and Deneen Borelli

Dr. Tom and Deneen Borelli have been conservative policymakers, commentators, authors, and contributors for decades, individually, and now as a couple. They often appear together on Newsmax TV as contributors, and they co-host a Sirius Patriot Radio program.

The couple, who married in 2006, will celebrate 16 years together in December. At the start of this Newsmax TV appearance, Tom and Deneen talk about being a couple and political allies.

Kevin and Sam Sorbo

Kevin Sorbo was pursuing a degree in business; Sam Sorbo a degree in biomechanical engineering. Both had a desire to act, and left school to move to Los Angeles and pursue their dreams. In 1997, Sam had a guest-starring role in Kevin’s series Hercules. It was love at first sight for them both. They married in 1998, and the love affair continues. Sam homeschools their three children and is a strong advocate.

With all that has been going on with education, Sam Sorbo was ahead of her time.

She told CBN:

When their oldest child started public school, Sam realized he was not learning the same values as they taught in their home.  “Your kids are a gift from God,” says Sam. “Why are you putting him or her in an institution for eight hours?”  Sam has become a huge proponent for homeschooling.  “We do not ask schools to teach anything related to God,” says Sam.  “So how will godly values enter the classroom?”  Sam believes all education starts at home.

The Sorbos work to create and promote faith and values-based films. They practice what they preach, and encourage others do the same. After 24 years, Kevin and Sam are still going strong in their careers, their marriage, and in their conservative reach.
